Reports summarized this week are from San Bernardino, Riverside and
Imperial Counties.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Sandra Remley found a juvenile AMERICAN DIPPER about .4 mile downstream
from Camp Metoche on fire road 1N45 (Old River Road) on Aug. 8.

Mary Beth Stowe spotted several CHUKAR as she was passing through
Johannesburg (just into San Bernardino County along US 395).

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

Jim Lewis spotted something that looked like a BROWN-CRESTED FLYCATCHER
working the low trees at a campfire circle at Lake Perris. He is asking
for confirmation.

Many birders have reported seeing at least one, and possibly two, BLUE-
FOOTED BOOBY at the Whitewater River Mouth. David VanderPluym also found a
HY LITTLE BLUE HERON in the same area. Several people also reported a
continuing REDDISH EGRET at the end of 84 Ave.

Roger Higson sent in an unconfirmed report of a WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER
from the Blythe area on Aug. 8. He suggests you email for pictures.

IMPERIAL COUNTY

Many birders reported a PIPING PLOVER at Red Hill Marina. Bob Miller
provided the best directions. He adds that morning light would be best as
you would be looking directly to the west. He suggests you begin looking
at the southeast end of the sea, Sinclair Road to Garst Road to Red Hill
Marina. Go left when you come onto Red Hill and follow it around to, and
then past, the boat launch and up the small rise to park on the flat area
at the picnic tables and raised BBQ pits in the saddle between the two
peaks of Red Hill. Look out on the sea to the west and you will see the
sandbar (barnacle bar) separated by a stretch of shallow water. There is a
large plywood duck hunting blind on the sandbar and several more of them
to the north of that. The plover spends much of its time within the first
50 feet of that blind.

Besides confirming the Piping Plover, Ryan Terrill reported seeing a LARK
BUNTING at Fig Lagoon, a GLOSSY IBIS in a pond south of Finney on Kershaw,
and a LITTLE BLUE HERON in the pond south of Finney on Kershaw.
