Interesting birds from E.L. Huie facility in Clayton Co. include an

A good variety of ducks have also been reported including BLUE-WINGED
TEAL (also reported from other locations round the state) and singles
of MOTTLED DUCK (usually restricted to the coast in GA, found by Eric
Boehm on 30 Aug), AMERICAN BLACK-DUCK, hybrid MALLARD X AMERICAN
BLACK DUCK, SHOVELER, GADWALL.

There have also been various shorebirds and a variety of waders
including GREAT EGRET, GREAT BLUE HERON, GREEN HERON, SNOWY EGRET,
LITTLE BLUE HERON, WHITE IBIS.


The star birds from pelagic trips on 25 and 27 Aug included POMARINE
and LONG-TAILED JAEGER, BLACK-CAPPED PETREL, and SABINE'S GULL along

LESSER and GREATER BLACK-BACKED GULLS were reported at N end of Tybee
IS on 27 Aug and at S end on 28 Aug. CASPIAN and LEAST TERNS were
reported from the S end on 27 and 28 Aug respectively.

ROSEATE SPOONBILLS and a WHIMBREL from Jekyll Is causeway, and 4 GRAY
KINGBIRDS from the Jekyll Is convention center.

A rare inland report of LEAST TERN comes from Michael Boehm who found
one on Aug 29 along with 38 BLACK TERNS and 7 FORSTER'S TERNS.

in the coastal plain

Please report Kestrels from Piedmont or Mountain regions to the RBA
(lambertsewell@mindspring.com); it is unclear whether these summer
records refer to the SE race found in the coastal plain, or from more
northerly races, which are typically only winter visitors to GA.

Migrant COMMON NIGHTHAWKS continue to be seen at many locations, esp
in the Atlanta area.
