Reports summarized this week are from San Bernardino, Riverside and Imperial
Counties.

SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY

Doug Karalun reported 3 juvenile BAIRD’S SANDPIPERS along the shore of a
flood control pond in Highland on Tuesday evening. He also reported an
OSPREY and one juvenile BAIRD’S SANDPIPER as well as a dozen LESSER
NIGHTHAWKS flying over the pond as the sun was setting. This pond can be
reached by parking on the NW side of the old steel girder bridge on
Greenspot Road near Seven Oaks dam. Greenspot Road can be reached from Hwy
30 in Highland. Exit at Fifth Street and travel east several miles past the
housing developments. Fifth Street becomes Greenspot Road. The pond is a
mile or so west at the west end of the large depression it can be reached by
following the paved path and then a little overland walking.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY

In his own inimitable way Roger Higson reported a PAINTED RESTART, a life
Blythe, bird observed in Mayflower Park on Wednesday.
Mike Gurbada reported a flock of 12 – 15 WHITE PELICANS in the vicinity of
Prado Dam near Hwy 91 and Serfas Club Dr. in Corona.
Howard King reported a PECTORIAL SANDPIPER at San Jacinto Wildlife area in
addition to the typical birds.

IMPERIAL COUNTY

On Monday Guy McCaskie reported 2 RUDDY TURNSTONE and one BLACK TURNSTONE at
Obsidian Butte, one juvenile BAIRD’S SANDPIPER and one juvenile PECTORAL
SANDPIPER in an irrigated field at the intersection of Sinclair Road and Hwy
111. He reported FRANKLIN’S GULL (2 – one first-winter plumage bird in an
irrigated field near the intersection of Young and Gentery Roads, and one
more in an irrigated filed at the intersection of Sinclair Road and Hwy 111).
