This is Dave DeReamus, for the Eastern PA Birdline, sponsored by the Lehigh
Valley Audubon Society, recorded on September 7th at 7:00 PM.

There will be a field trip to the Whitehall Parkway on September 9th. Meet
at the Tilghman Square Parking lot, near the Red Robin restaurant, just west
of Route 309 at 7:30 AM. Trip leader will be Ted Fritzinger.

There will also be a field trip to Bake Oven Knob on September 16th. Meet
at the Tilghman Square Parking lot, near the Red Robin restaurant, just west
of Route 309 at 9:00 AM. Trip leader will be Jon Levin.

The next Audubon meeting will be held on September 12th at 7:30 PM at the
Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus. A P.E.E.C. naturalist will do a program
on "Birding Opportunities at the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation
Area".

birding guidebook, "Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity".

Sightings from LAKE MINSI, Northampton County included:
COMMON TERN - 1 probable on 9/3.

Sightings from the MARTINS CREEK area, Northampton County included:
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER - 1 on 9/2 (near Delhaven Road).

Sightings from WILLIAMS TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
AMERICAN BITTERN - 1 on 9/4
Also Bobolink.

Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County included:
At the pond itself:
ROYAL TERN - 1 on 9/3 (adult; seen flying around the pond after Tropical
Storm Ernesto). I believe this represents a 1st Northampton County record.
And, at the flooded field:
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON - 1 immature on 9/2
Great Egrets - 12 on 8/31 and 9/1
STILT SANDPIPERS - up to 5 from 8/28 to 9/2.
Also Green-winged Teal, Wilson's Snipe, Semipalmated Sandpiper, and
Bobolink.

Sightings from LOWER NAZARETH TOWNSHIP, Northampton County included:
At a retention pond off Hecktown Road along Cobblestone Lane:
SANDERLING - 1 on 9/7
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER - 1 on 9/7.
Also Semipalmated Sandpiper.

Sightings from the HANOVERVILLE ROAD RETENTION PONDS, Northampton County
included:
STILT SANDPIPER - 1 on 9/2.

Sightings from LITTLE GAP, Northampton County included:
Bald Eagles - 9 on 9/4
Merlins - 2 on 9/4.

Sightings from the LEHIGH GAP WILDLIFE REFUGE, Carbon County included:
Tennessee Warbler (reported back on 8/20).

Sightings from the BELTZVILLE LAKE area, Carbon County included:
Caspian Terns - 4 on 9/2.
Also Cape May Warbler.

Sightings from the PENN FOREST RESERVOIR area, Carbon County included:
Common Raven and Hooded Warbler.

Sightings from BAKE OVEN KNOB, Lehigh County included:
Bald Eagles - 4 on 9/1; 10 on 9/4
Osprey - 29 on 9/4
Merlins - 3 on 9/4
OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER - 1 on 9/3.
Also Common Raven and Blue-headed Vireo.

AMERICAN BITTERN - 1 reported on 9/6.

Sightings from the JORDAN CREEK PARKWAY, Lehigh County included:
ALDER FLYCATCHER - 1 on 9/6.
Also Canada and Blackburnian Warbler.

Sightings from LOWER MILFORD TOWNSHIP, Lehigh County included:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

Sightings from GREEN LANE RESERVOIR, Montgomery County included:
BLACK TERNS - 3 on 9/2 (at the Walt Road area)
COMMON TERN - 1 on 9/2 (at the Walt Road area)
BLACK TERNS - 2 on 9/2 (at Knight Lake).

Sightings from PEACE VALLEY PARK, Bucks County included:
LAUGHING GULL - 1 on 9/2 (immature)
Bald Eagle - 1 seen this past week
