Highlights: MANX'S SHEARWATER, BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER,
SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER, BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, RUFF, GRAY CATBIRD,
TENNESSEE WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, VESPER SPARROW,
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK.

Merced Co. -Correction
---------
On Sept 8, an adult WESTERN GULL and adult HERRING GULL were on the east
side of San Luis Reservoir at Fisherman's Point. On the west side of
O'Neill Forebay, an immature BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD and
WILLOW FLYCATCHER were in the flowering tree tobacco. (5) CATTLE EGRETS
were along Santa Fe Grade, south of Los Banos. (Peter Metropulos)

Marin Co.

On Sept 9, a HERRING GULL, female type BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK and CASSIN'S VIREO were at the mouth of Pine
Gulch Creek in Bolinas Lagoon. (Keith Hansen)

On Sept 8, a TENNESSEE WARBLER was seen in the company of many western
migrants passing through Keith's Hansen Gallery in Bolinas.

San Mateo Co.

On Sept 9, the BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER
continues at the mouth of Pilarcitos Creek in Half Moon Bay. Access is
by Wave Ave, just south of Venice Blvd. Take the trail straight out
towards the ocean, to the bluff. Keep to the SW corner of the parking
lot. Take the trail to your left to the creek. Wave Ave is off the
frontage road along Hwy 1 and doesn't intersect Hwy 1. If heading south
on Hwy 1, take the first right hand turn after Venice Blvd, follow to
next right hand which is Wave Ave. (Chris Conard, Mike Feighner)

On Sept 9, the VESPER SPARROW continues at Coyote Point. It was in the
yellow-flowering bushes along the east/bay side of the trail between
the two park benches, the first of which has a sign on it:
"In Memory of Elmo Adams 1903-1999". (Mike Feighner)

On Sept 9, a hatch-year CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER with a flock of
Chestnut-backed Chickadees, Yellow Warblers, Townsend's Warblers and
Wilson's Warblers in a Red Alder along San Gregorio Creek along
Seaside School Road in the town of San Gregorio. (Ron Thorn)

On Sept 9, a field trip to Pescadero Marsh produced a juvenile RUFF and
BAIRD'S SANDPIPER by the lagoon east of the Hwy 1 Bridge. The juvenile
RUFF may be the same bird that was later seen at the Point at

Sonoma Co.

On Sept 8, a pelagic trip from Bodega Bay reported the following:
(28) BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, (35) NORTHERN FULMAR, (232) PINK-FOOTED
SHEARWATER, (2) FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, (41) BULLER'S SHEARWATER,
(4500) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (1) WILSON'S STORM-PETREL,
(53) ASHY STORM-PETREL, (36) jaegers of all three species,
(12) SABINE'S GULL, (13) SOUTH POLAR SKUA, (12) COMMON MURRE,
(25) PIGEON GUILLEMOT, AND (25) RHINOCEROS AUKLET.

Monterey Co.

On Sept 9, a pelagic trip on Monterey had thousands of birds. Highlights
only: (1) MANX'S SHEARWATER, (2) FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
(2000) ASHY STORM-PETREL, (200) BLACK STORM-PETREL, (2) WILSON'S
STORM-PETREL, (2) LEAST STORM-PETREL, (1) FORK-TAILED STORM-PETREL,
(60+) POMARINE JAEGER, and many SOUTH POLAR SKUA. (Debbie Shearwater)

Solano Co.

On Sept 9, a TENNESSEE WARBLER was seen in the willow thicket on the
south side of Putah Creek, 100 feet west of the bridge.

On Sept 9, a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW was with (3-5) Chipping Sparrow,
1/2 mile west of the bridge on the north side of the creek.

On Sept 9, the GRAY CATBIRD was seen again in the willows between pathway
to the glade and the lake at Middle Lake in Golden Gate Park.
