This is a Rare Bird Alert for Southwestern Ohio (Dayton) for
Tuesday, September 12, 2006, sponsored by The Dayton Audubon
Society.
Since September 5, a STILT SANDPIPER has been seen at Englewood
MetroPark.
On September 9, observed at Steele Dam in Dayton was a BLACK-CROWNED
NIGHT-HERON and DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT.
On September 12, a ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was seen at a private
residence in Englewood.
CASPIAN TERN and BANK SWALLOWS were observed at Reed Park near Buck
Creek State Park on September 11.
Over the period September 5-11, throughout the area seen were
MAGNOLIA, WORM-EATING, WILSON'S, BLACK-AND-WHITE, BLUE-WINGED, PINE,
BAY-BREASTED, YELLOW, and BLACKBURNIAN WARBLERS; COMMON YELLOWTHROAT,
AMERICAN REDSTART; GREAT CRESTED, WILLOW, and LEAST FLYCATCHERS;
EASTERN PHOEBE, EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, EASTERN
BLUEBIRD, and MANY RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS as well as WOOD and
SWAINSON'S THRUSH.
On September 11, observed at Englewood MetroPark were: LESSER
YELLOWLEGS,PECTORAL, SOLITARY, SPOTTED, and SEMIPALMATED SANDPIPER;
DOUBLE-CRESTED CORMORANT, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, GREAT EGRET, and
GREEN-WINGED and BLUE-WINGED TEAL.
