Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday September 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

A male RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD visited a feeder in Pendleton September
14-17, then disappeared. On September 16 A MAGNOLIA WARBLER was near the
Thompson Reservoir Campground west of Summer Lake. TENNESSEE WARBLERS were
report September 17 near Antone in Wheeler County and at Suttle Lake in
Santiam Pass.

A heavy movement of ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLERS moved through Oregon during the
week. LAPLAND LONGSPURS were seen along the coast, and good numbers of
SANDHILL CRANES arrived on Sauvie Island and Ridgefield NWR.

A CURLEW SANDPIPER, a RED KNOT, and three BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were seen
during the week on the North Spit of Coos Bay. On September 20 a
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER was at the Siltcoos River mouth. On September 16 a
SABINEšS GULL was at the Nehalem Sewage Ponds. A POMARINE JAEGER and over
10,000 SOOTY SHEARWATERS were seen September 14 at Seaside. That day a
female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK was at Circle Creek south of Seaside. On
September 20 a FRANKLINšS GULL was at the Necanicum River mouth.

Up to three RUFFS, a SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, and a BLACKPOLL WARBLER were at
Ridgefield NWR during the week. An AVOCET was there September 19. On
September 17 a female INDIGO BUNTING was at Trout Lake, WA. A female
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland September
20. On September 16 a SANDERLING was at the Sheridan Sewage Ponds. A
PARASITIC JAEGER, two SABINEšS GULLS, 15 COMMON TERNS, and a FORSTERšS TERN
were seen during the week at Fern Ridge Reservoir. On September 15 two BLACK
SWIFTS were over the reservoir.

On September 17 three BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLERS were reported from Tumalo
State Park west of Bend.

There was excellent birding at Malheur NWR during the week. A MAGNOLIA
WARBLER and a TENNESSEE WARBLER were at Benson Pond, a NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH,
a BLACKPOLL WARBLER, and an adult male BALTIMORE ORIOLE were at
Headquarters, and a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER was at Frenchglen.
