A juvenile STILT SANDPIPER was at Ormond Beach in Port Hueneme on September
17.
BAIRD'S SANDPIPERS continue along the LA River. Up to six were seen on
September 20 with most concentrated between the Long Beach Blvd. and Del Amo
crossings. Also present was a PECTORAL SANDPIPER below Long Beach Blvd.
A PURPLE MARTIN was at DeForest Park in Long Beach on September 16.
A BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER were at Peck Pit
(aka Peck Road Water Conservation Area) in Monrovia/Arcadia on September 17.
The Black-throated Green was in willows between the north and south lake
and the Virginia's was in the north end willows. A COMMON TERN and a
PLUMBEOUS VIREO were here on September 16. Peck Pit is on Myrtle Ave.,
south of the 210 Freeway.
A HOODED WARBLER was at the Laguna Road tamarisk trees on the Oxnard Plain
on September 14 & 15. The tamarisk trees are just south of Pleasant Valley
Road on the west side of Laguna.
On September 21, there was a briefly seen BLACKPOLL WARBLER and an AMERICAN
REDSTART at El Segundo Library Park. Both birds were adjacent to the north
patio area. El Segundo Library Park is at the intersection of Main and
Mariposa.
An AMERICAN REDSTART was at San Dune Park in Manhattan Beach on September
15. A BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was there on September 16.
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was at Madrona Marsh in Torrance on September 17.
A GRASSHOPPER SPARROW was at the Sepulveda Basin on September 16. The bird
was at the confluence of Haskell Creek and the LA River, just south of
Burbank Blvd.
BOBOLINKS turned up at Ballona Freshwater Marsh near Playa de Rey on
September 15 and on the LA River in the Sepulveda Basin below Burbank Blvd.
on September 16.
