RARE BIRD ALERT for SABINE'S GULL (Penticton)

Sightings for September 23
At the mouth of Mission Ck in Kelowna a first winter FRANKLIN'S GULL and a
juv. BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER were seen (RT).
At Michaelbrook Marsh at Gordon Rd and Mission Ck in Kelowna, a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW was reported (RT).
On September 19 a SABINE'S GULL was patrolling the area between the Lakeside
Resort and the marina on Okanagan Lake in Penticton (LN).
Sightings for September 1
An adult FERRUGINOUS HAWK was found in the late afternoon at Seperation
Lake, which is found along Hwy 5a, S. of Kamloops. Take Beresford Road off
the hwy to get to the lake. The hawk was seen and photographed in the large
cottonwood snag beside the lake.
On August 31, a first fall MAGNOLIA WARBLER was in Sutherland Hills Park in
Kelowna. Also here was an AMERICAN REDSTART, a PACIFIC-SLOPE FLYCATCHER and
a BLACK SWIFT (RT).
On August 31, two adult and one juvenile RUSTY BLACKBIRD were at the Ellis
Reservoir which is located 12.5 kilometers up the Beaverdell Road, E. of
Penticton (LN).
Sightings for August 27
A male INDIGO BUNTING was reported from the Vaseux Banding Station N. along
Hwy 97. N. of Vaseux Lake this morning (DB).
