Adams County
Siebert reported a RUDDY TURNSTONE in the southeast corner of Barr Lake on
September 2. The turnstone was seen again on September 4. Siebert reported
hearing an EASTERN WOOD-PEWEE north of the banding station on September 2. The
pewee was found again on September 3. Two BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were
reported by Garrett on the east side of Barr Lake on September 4.
Arapahoe County
Walbek reported a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER at Cherry Creek State Park near the
swim beach on September 3. The bird was seen in the group of trees between the
swim beach and parking lot. The bird was seen again on September 4.
Baca County
At Two Buttes SWA the Komar team reported EASTERN PHOEBE, OVENBIRD, and
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER on September 4.
Boulder County
GREEN HERONS have been reported by several birders at Walden Ponds recently.
The last report was on September 4.
Crowley County
A RED PHALAROPE was reported by Semo at Lake Meredith on September 3.
El Paso County
Bookman reported TOWNSEND'S WARBLERS in the Black Forest on September 2.
Kiowa County
The Komar team reported SNOWY PLOVER and a juvenile SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER
at Blue Lake on September 4. Semo reported a single PIPING PLOVER and two
SNOWY PLOVERS at Blue Lake on September 3. At Neenoshe Reservoir Semo reported
four SNOWY PLOVERS on September 3.
Kit Carson
Kaempfer reported a pair of singing CAROLINA WRENS in Burlington on September
5. They were 1/2 block south of US 24 across the street from the USDA
building. A female BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was reported by Peterson at Flager City
Park on September 5. At Flager SWA Peterson reported INCA DOVE, CASSIN'S VIREO,
and PINE WARBLER on September 5.
Larimer County
A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was reported by LaFleur along the Big Thompson River
east of Wilson Ave in Loveland on September 5. A BLACK PHOEBE was reported by
Smith at Dixon Reservoir on September 7. Dixon is on CR 42C in southeast Fort
Collins.
Moffat County
Luke reported CASSIN'S VIREO, NASHVILLE WARBLER, TOWNSEND'S WARBLER and
BLACKPOLL WARBLER at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig on September 3. The
warblers were seen again on September 5.
Morgan County
A juvenile SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHER was reported by Kellner on the north shore
of Jackson Reservoir on September 3. CASSIN'S VIREO and TOWNSEND'S WARBLER
were reported by Roller at Jackson Reservoir on September 5.
Otero County
SNOWY PLOVERS were reported by Semo at Lake Cheraw on September 3.
Pueblo County
A LEAST TERN was reported by Percival at Pueblo Reservoir on September 4. At
Valco Ponds/Rock Canyon, Percival reported BLACK PHOEBE and NORTHERN
WATERTHRUSH on September 4.
Washington County
A RED PHALAROPE was reported by Maynard on the west side of Prewitt Reservoir
on September 2. The phalarope was seen again on September 5. At Prewitt two
juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS were found by the Komar team and the DFO
field trip led by Kellner on September 3. BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPERS continued to
be seen on September 7. A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen at Prewitt on
September 3 and again on September 6. Schmoker reported a WHIMBREL on the south
side of Prewitt on September 3 was seen again on September 7. Leukering reported
a fly-by LAUGHING GULL at Prewitt on September 4 and it was seen again on
September 5. A juvenile LONG-TAILED JAEGER was reported by Roller at Prewitt on
September 5 and it was seen again on September 7. Larson reported a TOWNSEND'S
WARBLER at Prewitt on September 5.
Weld County
A NASHVILLE WARBLER was reported by Andrew Spencer at Crow Valley Campground
on September 2.
Yuma County
A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK was reported by Semo at Bonny Reservoir on September 4.
The hawk was seen in the southwest corner along CR 2 at the first road/trail
that goes into the woods on the south side. An EASTERN PHOEBE was reported by
the Komar team at Bonny on September 3. A SUMMER TANAGER was reported by the
Komar team in Wray City Park along the creek on September 3. A PHILADELPHIA
VIREO was reported by Semo at Bonny in the second juniper hedgerow east of
Foster Grove Campground on September 4.
