Highlights: BROAD-WINGED HAWK, AMERICAN GLODEN PLOVER, BLACK TERN,
COMMON TERN, BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD, TROPICAL KINGBIRD,
PLUMBEOUS VIREO, YELLOW-GREEN VIREO, PINYON JAY, GRAY CATBIRD,
VIRGINIA'S WARBLER, BLACKPOLL WARBLER, PRAIRIE WARBLER, PALM WARBLER,
MAGNOLIA WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART, YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER,
CAPE MAY (possible), NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH, LARK BUNTING,
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE, BOBOLINK.
San Francisco Co.

On Sept 27, the GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE continues at Middle Lake. The bird
was to the right of the path from the parking lot but before the
junction (glade or south end of the lake). (Calvin Lou)
On Sept 27, a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was flycatching in the
flooded willows along the southeastern side of the concrete bridge.
At the flowering eucalyptus along the Vista Grande Canal, a good flock
of birds were gleaning and taking nectar. Along with six other species
of western warblers was a VIRGINIA'S WARBLER and BLACKPOLL
WARBLER. The VIRGINIA'S WARBLER made multiple appearances in the
flowering trees, low in weeds, and even in the canal north of the
trees where Yellows and Townsend's were also bathing. This area
is about 100 yards north of the parking area west of the bridge,
across John Muir Drive, between MH2 and MH3. (Brian Fitch)
On Sept 27, the VIRGINIA'S WARBLER was seen in the afternoon. And a
CASSIN'S VIREO and possible CAP MAY were seen. (Ed DeBellevue)
Marin Co.

On Sept-26-27, two BLACK TERNS were at Stafford Lake in Novato.
At Pt Reyes National Seashore, the Nunes Ranch hosted
the YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER, PALM WARBLER, MAGNOLIA WARBLER,
NASHVILLE WARBLER, PRAIRIE WARBLER, WHITE-THROATED SPARROW,
a young LARK BUNTING (26th) and a YELLOW-GREEN VIREO (27th).
A BLACKPOLL WARBLER was found at the Fish Docks. A BROAD-WINGED HAWK
was seen at the Lighthouse. An AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was at
the Mendoza Ponds. Other second-hand reported birds seen were
OVENBIRD, ORCHARD ORIOLE, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, and VESPER SPARROW.

On Sept 27, (14) GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE was seen at Kent Island in

On Sept 26, at Pt Reyes, the Lighthouse had (2-3) NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES,
and the Nunes Ranch had the PRAIRIE WARBLER (in the fennel outside the
trees), a couple of PALM WARBLERS, and a BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD.

On Sept 27, a fly-over BOBOLINK was heard calling over Half Moon Bay.
It was heading south and didn't stop. (Al Jaramillo)
Solano Co.

On Sept 27, an AMERICAN REDSTART was re-found along south fork of
Putah Creek, at the Mace Blvd Bridge. It was 200 feet of the west side,
south side in some oaks. One of the oak has a start to tree house
with a ladder. (Roger Muskat)
Mono Co.

Last week-end, a report had a PLUMBEOUS VIREO at Mono County Park,
a COMMON TERN at Bridgeport, two COMMON TERNS at Crowley Lake,
(19,600) AMERICAN COOTS between both places, (2000) PINYON JAYS
scattered about the west side of Mono Lake, and a
GRAY CATBIRD in the garden of El Mono Motel in Lee Vining.
