Counties.
This is Derek Lovitch welcoming you to the
Southcoastal Maine Rare Bird Alert, sponsored by the
Wild Bird Center of Yarmouth at 500 Route One,
Yarmouth, Maine. All locations not found in A
Birder’s Guide to Maine by Pierson, et al. are
referenced to the Delorme Maine Atlas. Transcripts of
current and past reports can be found at
www.yarmouthbirds.com.
Weather Summary: Another good passerine flight
occurred Thurs. night on clear skies and light NW
winds. Rain on Sat. and thunderstorms on Sun, along
with southerly winds, were thanks to a pair of low
pressure systems. Clearing skies and light winds Sun.
night through Wed. allowed passerine migration to
proceed. A southerly flow returned for Wed. and
Thurs.
The ***WESTERN REEF-HERON*** was last observed at
6:00pm on Thursday the 21st from the Goat Island
Saltwater Fishing Access pull-off along Rte 1B in New
Castle, NH. A number of birders searched the area
this weekend, to no avail. If any further reports are
received, they will be posted immediately at
www.yarmouthbirds.com/bird_news.asp.
A *GOLDEN EAGLE* was reported, without details, from
