Thursday, September 28
3 LAPLAND LONGSPUR were seen on Saanichton Spit.

Wednesday, September 27
An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen at Swan Lake on the south side. Also there was
a male REDHEAD.
12 SANDHILL CRANES were seen in the Duncan area off Sahilton Road.

Tuesday, September 26
A MARBLED GODWIT was seen at Willows Beach.
An AMERICAN BITTERN was seen on the south side of Swan Lake.

Monday, September 25
A SWAMP SPARROW, the first reported for the fall season, was at Swan Lake
just east of the Lollypop Boardwalk.
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Clover Point.
A MARBLED GODWIT was at Willows Beach.
A WESTERN MEDOWLARK was seen on the Central Saanich bulb fields.
A BAR-TAILED GODWIT and 54 BROWN PELICANS were seen at Port Renfrew.

Sunday, September 24
Highlights of a VNHS hawk watch at East Sooke Park were: 350 TURKEY
VULTURES, 18 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 1 BROAD-WINGED HAWK, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 3
MERLIN, 3 KESTRELS, 2 BALD EAGLES, 5 COOPER'S HAWKS, 15 SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS,
20 VAUX'S SWIFTS and 350 BAND-TAILED PIGEONS.
Highlights of a VNHS trip on the MV Coho were: 2 PARASITIC JAEGERS and 6
RED-NECKED PHALAROPES.
At Swan Lake there were 63 species of birds seen. Highlights were a
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW and a REDHEAD.

Friday, September 22
A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was seen at McIntyre Reservoir in Central Saanich.
A WHIMBREL and 2 MERLIN were seen at Cattle Point.
2 late COMMON NIGHTHAWKS were seen over the south Oak Bay area.
A SORA and 2 VIRGINIA RAILS were seen at Swan Lake in the evening.

Thursday, September 21
A female INDIGO BUNTING and a DUSKY FLYCATCHER were seen on the right hand
side of the road in the shrubbery and alders just before you cross the
bridge at Jordan River. There is also a trail that works its way back to the
Western Forest Products maintenance yard.
A PECTORAL SANDPIPER was seen at McIntyre Reservoir.
A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was at Saanichton Spit.
4 HORNED LARKS were seen at Clover Point.
13 SANDHILL CRANES were seen over Francis Street in the Duncan area.
