On the Upper Texas Coast fall migration continues with expected warblers, vireos
and flycatchers being seen at High Island, Sabine Pass, Quintana and other migrant
traps. A pair of COUCH‘S KINGBIRDS (Tyrranus couchii) is still at the Smith Point
Hawk
watch.

In the central coastal area a report was received of three GREATER FLAMINGOS*
(Phoenicopterus ruber), two adults and one immature. The birds were on the backside
of the Magic Ridge TOS sanctuary near Indianola. There were no bands were seen on
the birds legs.

In the Rio Grande the NORTHERN JACANA* (Jacana spinosa) is still being seen at
Estero Llano Grande State Park in Weslaco. The bird has been seen on various ponds,
Ask the park staff for further information. . This park is not open on Mondays and
Tuesdays. Estero Llano Grande State Park is located on Hwy 1015 off of Hwy 83. For

In the Trans-Pecos, a GREATER PEWEE* (Contopus pertinax) was reported from Big Bend
National Park on Saturday, September 30. The bird was found in the Cottonwood
Campground area.
