This is the Kentucky rare bird alert, sponsored by the Kentucky
Ornithological Society. This update is current as of October 3, 2006 at
11:00 AM EDT. This is a summary of the sightings posted at
http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos.htm , with additional information on the
location and/or dates of the rare and unusual. The highlights of this
update are:



There is nothing too rare to report this week, even though there have
been plenty of reports.

A HORNED GREBE was seen on Cedar Creek Lake in Lincoln Co; BROWN
CREEPER, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, WILSON'S WARBLER and YELLOW RUMPS
made the list at Mammoth Cave; RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and YELLOW-BELLIED
SAPSUCKERS, and 2 first year LAUGHING GULLS were mentioned from the LBL
area; LEAST FLYCATCHER, and MOURNING WARBLER were seen at Cherokee Park
in Louisville; from Riverwalk in Louisville ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER,
WILSON'S WARBLER, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, YELLOW RUMPS, LINCOLN'S
SPARROW, and WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW were included; AMERICAN PIPITS made
the list from Minor Clark Fish Hatchery; LINCOLN'S SPARROW were also
observed in Logan County; Daviess County also had a report of a MOURNING
WARBLER; and ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK were noted from several locations.
