Three CLARK'S GREBES were found among 110 WESTERN GREBES in the west end of
Glenmore Reservoir on October 4. They were reported by Helga and Al
Borgardt. Also present were 27 SURF SCOTERS. Terry Korolyk observed 2 Surf

GREBES and 1 PIED-BILLED. At Lake MacDonald northeast of Calgary Terry
observed 15 Western Grebes on October 4.
The mild Fall weather may have resulted in a record-late ROSE-BREASTED
GROSBEAK for Alberta. Carol Ann Butler, who lives by Mallard Point near east
Fish Creek PP, has had a male coming to her feeder through October 3.
A NASHVILLE WARBLER was banded at the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary on October 3
and the following day the banders found a HERMIT THRUSH in the nets.
Don Moore saw a GREAT GRAY OWL west of Turner Valley on September 28, at the
campground at the Sandy McNabb Recreation Area.
The next scheduled update of the Bird Alert will be Monday October 9.
