Highlights: WHITE-WINGED DOVE, BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINGBIRD,
TROPICAL KINGBIRD, YELLOW-GREEN VIREO, SAGE THRASHER, TENNESSEE WARBLER,
HOODED WARBLER, BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, AMERICAN REDSTART,
MAGNOLIA WARBLER, BLACKPOLL WARBLER,BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER,
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER, PALM WARBLER, PRONTHONOTARY WARBLER,
CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, LARK BUNTING,
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, BREWER'S SPARROW,
CLAY-COLORED SPARROW.

Marin Co.

On Oct 5, at Outer Pt Reyes, a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER,
BLACKPOLL WARBLER, WHITE-WINGED DOVE, TENNESSEE WARBLER and
ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK were at the Mendoza Ranch ("B" Ranch).
At the Lighthouse, only (2) WHITE-THROATED SPARROW. At the Fish Docks,
a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, and YELLOW-GREEN VIREO were found. The Nunes
Ranch had a female ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK. Near the path by the dairy
at the Road Fork Pool, there was a LARK BUNTING. (???)

San Francisco Co.

On Oct 5, at Sutro Heights Park, a BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER (first-fall
female type) was seen in a pine tree near the Diana statue from about
10:30 to 11 a.m. and was still in the same tree. A stunning male
HOODED WARBLER was near the ground under a large cypress by the
Pt. Lobos parking lot. It and the flock then moved to the west
(hillside above the parking lot). The HOODED WARBLER was seen later in

On Oct 5, the TROPICAL KINGBIRD continues on the east side
of the Concrete Bridge at South Lake Merced. An AMERICAN REDSTART
and PALM WARBLERS were in the willows, half way down the Concrete
Bridge at South Lake Merced. (3) SORA were seen at the nearby
metal fishing pier. (Michelle Brodie)

Sonoma Co.

On Oct 5, a report of birds seen recently at Bodega Bay included
the BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER at the Marine Lab entrance and residence
trees on Monday to Wednesday, a TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at the
Marine Lab residence on Wednesday, an immature AMERICAN REDSTART at
Campbell Cove willows on Wednesday, and (2) WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS
also continue at Campbell Cove. (Dan Nelson)

San Mateo Co.

On Oct 5, an immature BLACK-CHINNED HUMMINBIRD was coming to a feeder
at Eisenhower Street in San Mateo. (Al DeMartini)

On Oct 5, the PRONTHONOTARY WARBLER was re-found at San Bruno Mountain
Park. The bird was in the willows and blackberries along the service
road, about 75 feet east of the day camp. An AMERICAN REDSTART was seen
in a cypress along the service road. (Herb Brandt)

On Oct 5, a VESPER SPARROW was foraging right along asphalt paved public
access trail between Steinberger Slough and the pond behind the Nob Hill
Market in Redwood Shores. (Ron Thorn)

Mendocino Co.

On Oct 5, a female BLACK-THROATED-BLUE WARBLER and (
2) CHESNUT-SIDED WARBLERS were seen along the Skunk Train railroad
tracks in Fort Bragg. The birds were all seen about a quarter mile past
the eucalyptus trees with Chestnut-backed Chickadees. Park just east of
Franklin St. on Spruce St at the entrance to Rose Memorial Cemetery.
Walk through the south edge of the cemetery to get on the tracks.
Be careful -- listen for the 10 AM train and work vehicles on the
tracks, get away from the tracks!

San Benito Co.

On Oct 5, a BREWER'S SPARROW and SAGE THRASHER were on Panoche Road.
The SAGE THRASHER was found pass the corrals at Silver Creek Ranch.
The road turns to dirt. Follow Panoche Road to Jackass Pass. Up
the hill. Just past the cottonwoods on your left, about 25 yards.
The BREWER'S SPARROW was found beyond the old McCullough walnut orchard
(which has been bulldozed because the trees were diseased) near MM 25.
A TOWNSEND'S X HERMIT WARBLER was found at Vista Hill Park in downtown
