Monterey Bay:

A Shearwater Journey's trip out of Monterey covered the waters of 3 counties
yesterday. Highlights included; BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, PINK-FOOTED
SHEARWATER, FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, BULLER'S SHEARWATER, SHORT-TAILED
SHEARWATER, SOOTY SHEARWATER and one MANX SHEARWATER. ASHY and BLACK STORM
PETREL, SOUTH POLAR SKUA, POMERINE JAEGER, PARASITIC JAEGER and SABINE'S

Pacific Grove:

A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was re-found today north of Asilomar Beach.. The bird
was across the street from 1625 Sunset and was foraging along the trail near
the beach. The bird was extremely hungry and fed steadily regardless of
close contact. [Carol Rose]

Big Sur:

A PLUMBEOUS VIREO was singing in the Headlands Patch at Big Sur River mouth
this morning. Also in this patch there was a BLACKPOLL WARBLER and two BLACK
AND WHITE WARBLERS. 2 RUDDY TURNSTONE, VIRGINIA RAIL and SORA were observed.

A NASHVILLE WARBLER was along the trail to the campground and a BLACKPOLL
WARBLER was upstream of the gravel bar. A PALM WARBLER was seen on the
gravel bar and a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE continues on the lagoon. [Mike

A BROAD-WINGED HAWK was seen flying over the campground and a TENNESSEE
WARBLER was in the Headlands Patch.

Pacific Grove:

60+ LAWRENCE'S GOLDFINCH were seen at Point Pinos this morning. Some
stopped to feed and others flew on over the ocean. [Scott Terrill]

Carmel:

A BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER was found on the Carmel River about half way
from the Highway to the green pipe. [Scott Terrill]

Moss Landing:

This morning a SHORT-EARED OWL was in the field along the entry road to Moon
Glow Dairy. [Rick Fournier]
