BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER; on 10/6, 6 Solitary Sandpipers, 1 GREAT EGRET
(MV).
On 10/5 at Independence Marsh, 1 hen RING-NECKED DUCK, 1 White-crowned
Sparrow (MV); on 10/7, 1 LINCOLN'S SPARROW (GM).
In New Beaver on 10/6, 2 OSPREYS were at the pond on Edwards Road; and at
the Three Rivers gravel pond, 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 Hooded Merganser, 6
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 2 Pied-billed Grebes (MV).
In Greene Township on 10/7, nocturnal calls included ~70 SWAINSON'S
THRUSHES, 19 GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSHES, 4 HERMIT THRUSHES, 1 Wood Thrush, 3
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, 1 BOBOLINK, 1 possible LESSER YELLOWLEGS, 4
warblers; after dawn, sightings included Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 30
White-crowned Sparrows, 125 White-throated Sparrows, 1 ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER, 13+ PALM WARBLERS, 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER, 1 BLACK-THROATED BLUE
WARBLER, 6-7 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 2 Common Yellowthroats, 4 Eastern
Phoebes, 1 BLUE-HEADED VIREO, 4 WINTER WRENS, 3 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, 2

30 in the vicinity of its intersection with Route 151; at the park, SWAMP

On 10/8 at State Gamelands #285, sightings included 1 VESPER SPARROW, 5
SAVANNAH SPARROWS, 2 GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS, 3 LINCOLN'S SPARROWS, 13 SWAMP
SPARROWS, 100+ White-throated Sparrows, 40-50 White-crowned Sparrows (11
sparrow species total); also 3 BLUE-HEADED VIREOS (2 in full song), 4
Yellow-rumped Warblers, many RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, and others (GM).
BUTLER COUNTY:
At Moraine State Park on 10/1, sightings included Ruffed Grouse,
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Eastern Phoebe, WINTER WREN, RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET,
Wood Thrush, Gray Catbird, MAGNOLIA WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER,
Yellow-rumped Warbler, BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, American Redstart,
White-throated Sparrow (KSJ).
On 10/7 in an unspecified location, 1 PURPLE FINCH, 2 White-crowned Sparrows
(MB).

LAWRENCE COUNTY:
From last week: on 9/30 in various locations in the county, sightings
included 1 PEREGRINE FALCON over a farm field in an unspecified location; 3
NORTHERN HARRIERS; 2 SANDHILL CRANES flying over the farm fields past Black
Swamp; White-throated Sparrows at Black Swamp and Pensey Marsh; 24+ AMERICAN
TREE SPARROWS at Pensey Marsh; 6-8 Eastern Phoebes; 2 Barn Swallows, 1
WILSON'S WARBLER, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, Wood Ducks, 1 Coot/Moorhen, and Gray
Catbird at Pensey Marsh (RT).
SOMERSET COUNTY:
On 9/30 in northern Somerset County, approximately 50 Semipalmated
Sandpipers were seen in flight; on 10/5, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS were seen near
Davidsville; also Yellow-rumped warblers, PALM WARBLERS (TR).
WARREN COUNTY:
In Warren on 10/2, 2 male RED CROSSBILLS flew over Warren Area High School (JF).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
On 10/2 and 10/5 at the Old Stuebenville Pike pond in Robinson Township, 1
AMERICAN WIGEON, 1 LESSER YELLOWLEGS (MV).
On 10/4 in Washington, 1 BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, 1 WINTER WREN; on
10/5, 1 GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH, 1 immature female BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER,
