Highlights: MANX SHEARWATER, AMERICAN BITTERN, BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
EURASIAN WIGEON, SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, PECTORAL SANPIPER,
LESSER YELLOWLEGS, RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, PINYON JAY,
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER, CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER, PALM WARBLER,
WHITE-THROATED SPARROW, VESPER SPARROW, BALTIMORE ORIOLE.

San Francisco Co.

On Oct 9-10, the AMERICAN BITTERN was seen again on the NE corner of
North Lake in Golden Gate Park. The bird was about 50 yards to the south
from the beach with the metal hand railing.

On Oct 9, a BALTIMORE ORIOLE was in the weedy field to the right of
the small red bridge near Presidio Blvd and Martinez in the Presidio.
To Park take Presidio Blvd to where it intersects with Martinez and park
here, cross the cross-walk , take the paved path to the small red bridge.
To the right of the bridge is a drainage ditch and weedy open area.

On Oct 9, a pelagic trip from Bodega Bay reported
(5) BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, (371) PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER,
(8) FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, (300) BULLER'S SHEARWATER,
(20) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (1) WILSON'S STORM-PETREL,
(1) FORK-TAILED STORM-PETREL, (195) ASHY STROM-PETREL,
(8) SOUTH POLAR SKUA, (20) POMARINE JAEGER, (5) PARASITIC JAEGER,
(300) COMMON MURRE, (4) PIGEON GUILLIMOT, (4) CASSIN'S AUKLET,
(125) RHINOCEROS AUKLET, and (2) TUFTED PUFFINS. (Debbie Shearwater)

On Oct 9, a female CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER at Canyon Trail Park
in El Cerrito. (Oliver James)

Mono Co.

On Oct 7, a VESPER SPARROW was seen at McGee Creek, on the east side of
Hwy 395. At Crowley Lake Mobile Home Park, an EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVE
was seen. At the south end of Crowley Lake, (2) COMMON TERNS were seen
by the marina. At the Zack Ranch south of the town of Benton,
along Hwy 6, a FERRUGINOUS HAWK was seen. At Chalfant, another EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE was seen. At Benton Crossing Road, at Wild Rose Canyon,
(60) PINYON JAYS were found. (Peter Metropulos)

Merced Co.

On Oct 10, a juvenile SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, (3) PECTORAL SANDPIPER and
(32) LESSER YELLOWLEGS were seen in a recently flooded marshy area along
Gun Club Run, 3 miles east of Hunt Road, south of the town
of Gustine. This area has several parking spots and some large signs with
"Gustine Land and Cattle" on them. On Oct 9, (1850) WHITE-FACED IBIS,
(6600) SANDHILL CRANES, (30) CATTLE ERGET and (84) GREATER WHITE-FRONTED
GEESE were seen along the Auto Tour Loop at Merced MWR.

Marin Co.

On Oct 10, a big day from dawn to dusk starting at Duckberrry Reef to
Pine Gulch Creek highlights included (2) GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE at
the Bolinas Sewage Ponds, (4) BLUE-WINGED TEAL and (1) EURASIAN WIGEON
in the Bolinas Lagoon, (4) Merlin and (2) PEREGRINE FALCON in various
places, (8) PARASITIC JAEGER and (1) POMARINE JAEGER off shore,
(2) COMMON TERN over the lagoon, (6) MARBLED MURRELETS off of Wharf Road
in Bolinas, a RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER on the Mesa near Elm and Evergreen,
a HOUSE WREN at Pine Gulch Creek, (2) VARIED THRUSH in town,
a PALM WARBLER at Common Wheel and another at Pine Gulch Creek,
a BLACK-AND WHITE WARBLER at the sapsucker spot, and a WHITE-THROATED
SPARROW at Pine Gulch Creek for a total of 126 species. (Keith Hansen)

Monterey Co.

On Oct 8, a pelagic trip from Monterey started with a MANX SHEARWATER,
1 mile off of Lover's Point. Other highlights included
(12) BLACK-FOOTED SHEARWATER, (20) NORTHERN FULMAR, (175) PINK-FOOTED
SHEARWATER, (1) FLESH-FOOTED SHEARWATER, (325) BULLER'S SHEARWATER,
(50) SOOTY SHEARWATER, (20) ASHY STROM-PETREL, (2) BLACK STROM-PETREL,
(8) SOUTH POLAR SKUA, (28) POMARINE JAEGER, (3) PARASITIC JAEGER,
(1) SABINE'S GULL and a PEREGRINE FALCON on the radio Tower.
