Terry Hill, Tom Benson, Vic Leipzig, Mark Singer, Roy Poucher, Beth
McConaughy.

At San Juan Creek in Dana Point (below the Stonehill Bridge), a BLACK AND
WHITE WARBLER was around the basketball court area of the apartment complex
on the west side near the bike path on Saturday, and in the dry creek bed
where the wire crosses the creek on Sunday a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, EURASIAN
COLLARED DOVE (on wire), and a flyover of a ZONE-TAILED HAWK. At Doheny
State Beach at the outlet of San Juan Creek two BLACK OYSTERCATCHERS were
found.

Last Friday by Lincoln along the Santa Ana River a PRAIRIE FALCON was
observed and farther up by the Orange-Olive RR tracks, along the bike path,
a probable returning AMERICAN REDSTART adult female.

On the 8th 3 BOBOLINKS were in the Santa Ana River creekbed north of Adams.

At Mile Squre Park last Saturday a continuing BLACKPOLL WARBLER was near the
Gazebo by the Lake. Another Blackpoll as at Westminster Memorial Park in
the square lined by Chinese Elms, along with a PLUMBEOUS VIREO.

A BROWN BOOBY was found at Newport Beach on Tuesday and is undergoing rehab.

A Big Day last Sunday in Orange County amassed 145 species of birds
including REDDISH EGRET at Bolsa Chica preserve, PACIFIC GOLDEN-PLOVER at
Seal Beach NWS overlook, SOLITARY SANDPIPER at Huntington Central Park,
LEAST TERN (still present yesterday) at San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary, and
BLUE GROSBEAK at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery (two other records occured last
week), YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD at Peters Canyon Regional Park, and LAWRENCES
GOLDFINCHES at Tucker Wildlife Sanctuary in Modjeska Canyon.

At San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary on the 10th one of the COMMON TERNS and a
BANK SWALLOW continued.

At Huntington Central Park 2 NORTHERN WATERTHRUSHES continued on the east
side (Oct 8th), one reported on the 10th. An adult male AMERICAN REDSTART
and another BLACKPOLL WARBLER were at the east side of Huntington Central
Park on the 10th.

Also a Black and White Warbler on the east side reported most recently on
the 10th. Another Black and White Warbler and a Plumbeous Vireo were at
Aldrich Park (University of California Irvine) on the 8th.

A PAINTED BUNTING was seen on private property on Oct 1st in Mission
Viejo....but this may not be a vagrant.
