EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Friday, October 13.

Neither the frigatebird at Tuckernuck Island nor the Yellow Rail in
Newburyport
have been reported since they were seen on Monday, but other recent
reports from
the Newburyport/Plum Island area have included 1 EURASIAN WIGEON, 55
AMERICAN WIGEON, 114 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 200 GREEN-WINGED
TEAL, 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 6 unidentified scaup, 12 COMMON
MERGANSERS, 9 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 4 RED-THROATED
LOONS, 1 AMERICAN BITTERN, 31 GREAT EGRETS, 2 SNOWY
EGRETS, 8 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 3 PEREGRINE FALCONS, 320
GREATER YELLOWLEGS, 2 HUDSONIAN GODWITS, 1 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPER, 4 PECTORAL SANDPIPERS, 8 SHORT-BILLED DOWITCHERS,
45 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, 1 COMMON TERN, 1 RED-EYED VIREO,
roughly 500 TREE SWALLOWS, 30 GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLETS,
8 species of wood warblers including 1 TENNESSEE WARBLER, 10
AMERICAN PIPITS, 1 CLAY-COLORED SPARROW, 6 WHITE-CROWNED
SPARROWS, 19 DARK-EYED JUNCOS, and 13 LAPLAND LONGSPURS.

Seen in South Boston were 1 RED-THROATED LOON, 200 BONAPARTE'S
GULLS, 50 LAUGHING GULLS, 10 COMMON TERNS, and roughly 100
FORSTER'S TERNS, and at Fresh Pond in Cambridge there were 107 RING-
NECKED DUCKS, 2 unidentified scaup, 24 RUDDY DUCKS, and an
ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER.

Miscellaneous reports this week have included a COMMON RAVEN in
Haverhill, a BLUE GROSBEAK in the Fenway section of Boston, a VESPER
SPARROW, 70 WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS, and 8 DARK-EYED
JUNCOS in Dorchester, a BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO in Middleboro, a
VESPER SPARROW and 6 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS in Plympton,
285 migrating SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS and 17 migrating COOPER'S
HAWKS at Morris Island in Chatham, and 6 PIED-BILLED GREBES
at Nantucket.
