San Mateo Co.

On Dec 7, a probable SLATY-BACKED GULL was observed this afternoon in
the gull flock at Venice State Beach in Half Moon Bay. The gull
flock was flushed and the bird was not re-found. (Ron Thorn)
On Dec 7, (41) ANCIENT MURRELETS and (74) MARBLED MURRELETS
were seen from Venice State Beach in Half Moon Bay. Additional, a
sea watch from Ocean Blvd in Moss Beach had (48) ANCIENT MURRELETS
and (52) BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATERS. (Ron Thorn)
On Dec 7, (2) male HARLEQUIN DUCKS were seen near or on the concrete
blocks near the Coyote Point Marina. A LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE and
(2) RUDDY TURSTONES were also seen. (Al DeMartini)

On Dec 7, (2) ANCIENT MURRELETS were seen near the Chimney Rock parking
lot at Pt Reyes National Seashore. Take the trail going west to the
Elephant Seal overlook. (Stewart Davidson)
On Dec 6, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE was seen 200 yards south of Barth's
Retreat on the Simmons Trail on Mt Tamalpais. Barth's Retreat is 1 mile
north of Rock Spring.

An ANCIENT MURRELET was seen from the Muir Beach Overlook.

On Dec 7, the NORTHERN SHRIKE and a juvenile FERRUGINOUS HAWK were seen
along Cook's Lane, near Barker Slough. (Joe Eaton)
San Francisco Co.

On Dec 8, (10) MARBLED MURRELETS were spotted from the Cliff House,
flying out under the Golden Gate Bridge or south. (4) BLACK SCOTERS were
seen here and later out at Mile Rock. The ROCK WREN continues near the
Camera Obscura. And word from Andy Kleinhesselink that the Presidio's
BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER continues on the eastern side of the field

On Dec 8, a probable BULLOCK'S ORIOLE was seen and heard in the
eucalyptus trees on right as you take the paved path from the small
parking lot at Bernal Heights Park. (Ed Pandolfino)
