EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS -

This is the Voice of Audubon for Monday, December 4.

The BELL'S VIREO along Oyster Pond Road in the Woods Hole section
of
Falmouth was still present there at least as recently as yesterday,
and other
birds seen in the Falmouth area included 3 GREAT EGRETS and 3 YELLOW-
BREASTED CHATS.

A RUFOUS HUMMINGBIRD continues at a feeding station at 658 Main
Street
in the Cotuit section of Barnstable, a LARK SPARROW was found on
Saturday along
Ward Swift Road in Bourne, and two GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE
were present today in the farm field at the intersection of Barrett's
Mill Road
and Route 2 in West Concord.

A PACIFIC LOON was noted in Wellfleet Harbor where other birds
included 1
BLACK-HEADED GULL, 2 LITTLE GULLS, and 3 FORSTER'S TERNS,
the EARED GREBE was reported again from Niles Beach in East
Gloucester,
and other birds seen in Gloucester included 1 GREAT EGRET, 1 BLACK-
HEADED GULL, 1 ICELAND GULL, a late NORTHERN PARULA, and
a BALTIMORE ORIOLE.

A report from Allen's Pond in South Dartmouth included 4 WINTER
WRENS,
5 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, 10 HERMIT THRUSHES, 2 BROWN
THRASHERS, 16 GRAY CATBIRDS, 1 WILSON'S WARBLER, 2 YELLOW-
BREASTED CHATS, 9 FIELD SPARROWS, AND 2 FOX SPARROWS,
and weekend reports from Nantucket included 1 SNOW GOOSE, 73
CANVASBACKS, 1500 NORTHERN GANNETS, 2 AMERICAN
OYSTERCATCHERS, 1 BLACK-HEADED GULL, roughly 1000
BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 3 ICELAND GULLS, 22 LESSER BLACK-
BACKED GULLS, 3 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES, and 1 YELLOW-
BELLIED SAPSUCKER.

Seen today at the Great Meadows Refuge in Concord were 8 AMERICAN
WIGEON, 6 NORTHERN SHOVELERS, 9 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 3
REDHEADS, 75 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 3 LESSER SCAUP, 1 GREATER
SCAUP, 8 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 14 RUDDY DUCKS, and 80
AMERICAN COOTS, and miscellaneous reports from the weekend included
a WESTERN KINGBIRD at Fort Hill in Eastham, another WESTERN
KINGBIRD at Breakwater Avenue in Rockport, a WHITE-EYED VIREO
and a YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT at Halibut Point in Rockport, a SNOWY
OWL at Plum Island, a GLAUCOUS GULL at Crystal Lake in Gardner, a
WILSON'S WARBLER at the Marblehead Neck Sanctuary, another
WILSON'S WARBLER at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, a
NASHVILLE WARBLER and a LINCOLN'S SPARROW in the Fenway
section of Boston, 650 RUDDY DUCKS and 2 SEMIPALMATED PLOVERS
in Pembroke, 6 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 70 HORNED LARKS, and
1 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW at the Cumberland Farm fields in
Middleboro, 2 VESPER SPARROWS in Fairhaven, an ORANGE-CROWNED
WARBLER in Brewster, and a late BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER in
Barnstable.
