This is the Vermont Rare Bird Alert for December 4, 2006 covering the period
November 27-December 3, 2006.

The HARLEQUIN DUCK that was first observed on 11/22 at Shelburne Point
was last seen on 11/27 across from the Shelburne shipyard.


Nine RED-THROATED LOONS were seen in Brattleboro on 11/30.



A GADWALL and a NORTHERN SHOVELER were spotted at Mud Creek on
12/3. A female BARROW'S GOLDENEYE was observed at the shipyard on
11/29. A BLACK SCOTER was sighted off Grand Isle on 11/28 and at Herrick's
Cove (a female) on 11/29.



A BONAPARTE'S GULL was seen at Herrick's Cove on 11/20.



A RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER was observed in Shelburne on 12/3.



A NORTHERN SHRIKE was perched in view at Lake Carmi State Park
on 12/3.



A lingering TREE SWALLOW was reported in Washington on 11/29.



A pair of CAROLINA WRENS was seen at a feeder in Hartland on
11/26. A WINTER WREN was observed at Herrick's Cove on 11/29.



A LAPLAND LONGSPUR was sighted at Dead Creek on 11/25 in a flock
of 7 HORNED LARKS.
