Returning female BROAD-BILLED HUMMINGBIRD. Northeast edge of Mission Viejo
Golf Course. Take Oso Parkway east off I-5, turn left (north) on Marguerite
Parkway, then a quick left on Via Angelina, where you park at the end of
the street. The bird frequents the red-flowering eucs at the street-end and
likes to roost in the Brazilian pepper at the end of the chain-link fence
along the creek. The bird is more often heard than seen, so for the
unfamiliar, check all 'Ruby-crowned Kinglet' calls.

Tewinkle Park, Costa Mesa: YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER. Seen by some but not
all that went to find the bird. Always on the northern part of the park.
Last seen yesterday (Tuesday).

Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea: Friday, a flock of GOLDEN-CROWNED
KINGLETS around the tennis courts.

Upper Newport Bay: off of the boardwalk, SHORT-EARED OWL around 5 pm today.

Bolsa Chica Preserve: REDDISH EGRET (Friday), GREEN-TAILED TOWHEE
(Thursday, Friday, and Tuesday) ...last week's directions to Towhee: If
you park at the end of Los Patos by Bolsa Chica Road, then cross Bolsa Chica
Road and walk straight along the fence until it ends, turn right, continue
along the fence & down the hill to the area by the bean fields, it was in
the shrubby/rocky area before the fields.
