HIGHLIGHTS
Tundra Swan, Harlequin Duck, King Eider, Red-necked Grebe, Purple
Sandpiper, Razorbill.
At Montauk Point there were 2 BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKES on Nov 23 (AB). On
Nov 25 an adult male KING EIDER, 800 COMMON EIDERS, 1 BLACK-LEGGED
KITTIWAKE and 1 RAZORBILL were spotted (HM). The first 2 HORNED GREBES
of the season were at Lake Montauk on Nov 12 (PR). A RED-NECKED GREBE
was at Culloden Point on Nov 25 (K&BRu, HM, VB).
The previously reported pair of TUNDRA SWAN was spotted at Georgica Pond
on Nov 19-20, and again on Nov 25, but not on Nov 21 and 24. On Nov 22,
2 TUNDRA SWANS, perhaps the same individuals, were spotted in a field
along Head of Pond Rd in Watermill (HM, KRu).
Five WILD TURKEYS were spotted along Rt 114 at the old Barcelona Inn on
Nov 22 (JM). A GREAT EGRET was found along Rt 114 in a North Haven on
Nov 18 (CG) and was still present on Nov 20. An immature BALD EAGLE was
spotted over Long Pond, Sag Harbor on Nov 19 (HM). A MARSH WREN was at
Sagaponack Pond on Nov 21 (JGl).
At Shinnecock Bay, an AMERICAN BITTERN and 17 BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES were
spotted along Dune Rd (S&JBe) and a COMMON EIDER was in the inlet (MH)
on Nov 20. On Nov 24 an adult male HARLEQUIN DUCK, 5 COMMON EIDERS and a
PURPLE SANDPIPER were in the Shinnecock Inlet (PSc, MM). Nine PURPLE
SANDPIPERS were at the inlet on Nov 25 (DK, BM). Along Dune Rd there
were 2 CLAPPER RAILS, 1 AMERICAN BITTERN, 15 SEASIDE SPARROWS, W2
IPSWICH SPARROWS & 35 BOAT-TAILED GRACKLES that same day (DK, BM).
On Shelter Island there was a RED-NECKED GREBE at South Ferry (MSch) and
an AMERICAN PIPIT was at Hampshire Farm (NH) on Nov 19.
Three SNOW GEESE were at Marratooka Lake on Nov 19 (PG).
A BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER was at Orient Point County Park on Nov 19 (JO).
An OSPREY was spotted along the Long Island Expressway at Exit 68 on Nov
17 (PP), and another was seen in the Carman's Rover on Nov 18 (AGr, SJ).

WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER: 2 at Georgica on Nov 6 (HM).
PECTORAL SANDPIPER: 2 at Sagaponack on Nov 6 (HM).
STILT SANDPIPER: Sagaponack Nov 5 (AB).
ROYAL TERN: 2 at Mecox on Nov 4 (AW, W&GBk).
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO: 2 at Montauk Pt Oct 22 (AB).
COMMON NIGHTHAWK: 3 at Wildwood State Park, Wading River on Oct 9 (JC).
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER: 1 at Orient Point on Nov 19 (JO).
SWAINSON'S THRUSH: Big Reed Pond, Montauk on Oct 26 (VB).
NORTHERN PARULA: East Lake Drive, Montauk, Oct 15 (VB)
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER: Amagansett on Oct 29 (K&BRu)
MAGNOLIA WARBLER: Mecox Bay Oct 21 (AB, CG)
PRAIRIE WARBLER: Montauk Pt on Oct 22 (AB).
BLACKPOLL WARBLER: Hither Hills State Park Nov 5 (HM).
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH: Montauk Pt Oct 14 (AB)
SCARLET TANAGER: 1 Noyac Path on Oct 16 (SBl, SS, CG)
LINCOLN'S SPARROW: 1 Camp Hero State Park on Nov 5 (AW).
BLUE GROSBEAK: 1 Aquebogue on Oct 29 (AB).
