Welcome to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's bird alert for November 24,
2006. This report covers the period from November 17th to November 24th
and will be updated again on November 30th.

Several late occurring warblers were found this week. In the Central Beach
area of Charlestown, 1 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER and a NASHVILLE WARBLER were
found on the 18th, and a BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER was spotted on the 21st at
Trustom Pond NWR. A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen at Avondale Farm Preserve in
Westerly on the 18th, along with 3 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS.

Along Moonstone Beach in Matunuck, 1 late WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPER was
observed on the 19th.

On the 24th at Roger Wheeler State Beach parking lot, 1 BLACK-HEADED GULL
was found.

At the Charlestown Breachway, 1 FORSTER'S TERN and 30 NORTHERN GANNET were
observed on the 21st, and a LONG-TAILED DUCK was seen there on the 24th.

At Ninigret Pond NWR the adult LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was reported again
this week.

Three NORTHERN SHOVELER and the COMMON MOORHEN continue at Trustom Pond in
South Kingston.

In the parking lot at Misquamicut Beach, 52 HORNED LARK was the high count
on the 24th, and in addition, on the 21st, there were 4 SNOW BUNTING sighted
there. Along Atlantic Ave. in Misquamicut, 1 YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was
seen on the 18th, and a FOX SPARROW was sighted on the 24th.

At Succotash Marsh in Jerusalem on the 24th, 1 AMERICAN BITTERN was
reported. In the parking lot at East Matunuck Beach, 8 SNOW BUNTING were seen this
week.

On the 20th, at Bullocks Cove in East Providence, 1 EURASIAN WIGEON was
observed, and a EURASIAN WIGEON was also found at White Brook in Carolina this
week.

Along the dike at Easton's Pond on the Middletown-Newport line, 1 BALD EAGLE
was spotted on the 21st.

Finally, 2 HORNED GREBE and 2 RED-NECKED GREBE were found at Wallum Lake in
Burrillville on the 24th. These species are uncommon on inland lakes.
