Welcome to the City of Calgary and CFNS Bird Alert. This Bird Alert was
recorded on Monday, Sept 12 at 1:45pm. To report a bird sighting, leave a

On Sunday, Sept 11, there were 2 CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLERS and 2 CAPE MAY
WARBLERS sighted by David West and his son on the west side of the Bow River
just south of Hwy 22X. Tony Timmons also had a CHESTNUT-SIDED WARBLER
Sunday morning along the east path leading to the visitor centre in Fish
Creek Prov. Park, on the east side of the park. Andrew Slater reported 2
NASHVILLE WARBLERS in a mixed flock in his yard in Oakridge in the afternoon
of Sunday, Sept. 11.
Shonna McLeod saw a huge flock of SNOW GEESE fly over Southland Park in the
morning of Sept. 12. Andrew Slater had 2 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE, 40
STILT SANDPIPERS, both YELLOWLEGS, LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, PECTORAL
SANDPIPERS, and 2 AMERICAN PIPITS at Cattleland Slough just north of
Strathmore located in the NE corner of the junction of Hwy 817 and 564.
Yousif Attia and Schuyler Robinson had a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE at Inglewood
Bird Sanctuary Friday, Sept. 9. The bird was sighted again Sunday morning
by Greg Scott.
Mike Mulligan, Chris Havard, Hank Vanderpoll and Phil Cram had 1 MEW GULL at
Elliston Park at 68th Street and Hwy 1A NE on Thursday Sept. 8.
Rob Worona had 1 ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, 6 AMERICAN REDSTARTS, 1 BLACKPOLL
WARBLER, and 1 PHILADELPHIA VIREO at North Glenmore Park on Sunday, Sept.
11.

BIRD STUDY GROUP: Meets the first Wednesday of each month except June thru
August when field trips replace the meetings. Meetings are held in Room 211
of the Biosciences Bldg at U of C. October's meeting will be held on
October 5 at 7:30pm with Brian Elder presenting a talk on Birding Adventures
in China. Kathleen Roman is giving show-and-tell slides.
