Carmel:
The AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER was seen again this morning on the beach
south of the Carmel River mouth. The bird ranges from the mouth of the
river south to the first rock point. 2 PECTORAL SANDPIPER were in the
Odello Lagoon. [Brian Weed]
Monterey Bay:
Yesterday's Shearwater Journey's trip had the following highlights: A
STREAKED SHEARWATER was seen in San Mateo County waters about 2 miles
off of Ano Nuevo. 2 XANTUS MURRELETS gave good views also. 17
BLACK-FOOTED ALBATROSS, 400+ PINK-FOOTED SHEARWATER, 5 FLESH-FOOTED
SHEARWATER, 100+ BULLER'S SHEARWATER, thousands of SOOTY SHEARWATER,
100+ ASHY STORM PETREL, 21 SOUTH POLAR SKUA and all 3 species of JAEGER.
