lower this week.

ALLEGHENY COUNTY:

From last week: on 12/9 in Leetsdale, 1 PURPLE FINCH (reported to MV by
Becky Smith).

On 12/16 in Harrison Hills Park, sightings during the bird count included 22
TUNDRA SWANS, 1 Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 2 HERMIT THRUSHES, 4 AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS, 1 SWAMP SPARROW, and others (PH).


ARMSTRONG COUNTY:

As of 12/12, 3 CACKLING GEESE are still present at Keystone Reservoir, but
have moved from their former location to the boat launch on Route 210 in
Elderton; they are with a small flock of Canada Geese (reported to MH by
John and Martha Salvetti).


BEAVER COUNTY:

On 12/16 at Hereford Manor Lake, 1 Common Loon, 4 Pied-billed Grebes (MV).

In Rochester on 12/16, 1 PEREGRINE FALCON (MV).

During the bird count on 12/17, highlights included PEREGRINE FALCON again
in Rochester, 1 light-phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK in North Sewickley Township,
and a Gray Catbird found along the Beaver River (MV).


BUTLER COUNTY:

At Moraine State Park on 12/12, 116 TUNDRA SWANS, 1 BLACK SCOTER, 34
BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 2 Common Loons (DY). On 12/15, 20 TUNDRA SWANS, 15
BONAPARTE'S GULLS, BUFFLEHEADS, REDHEADS, SCAUP SP., GADWALL, AMERICAN
WIGEON, AMERICAN BLACK DUCK (MV).

At Mount Zion Church on 12/12, 4 Wood Ducks (DY).


CRAWFORD COUNTY:

On 12/12 in the Pymatuning area, one juvenile blue-phase SNOW GOOSE was seen
mixed in with over 4,000 Canada Geese, feeding on Game Commission land a few
miles east of the causeway; BALD EAGLES were also plentiful that day (DY).

At M.K. Goddard State Park on 12/12, 1 Common Loon, 22 COMMON MERGANSERS (DY).


ERIE COUNTY:

On 12/11 at Presque Isle State Park, sightings included 10 TUNDRA SWANS, 3
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 86 CANVASBACKS, 13 REDHEADS, 10 LESSER SCAUP, 56
unidentified Scaup, 12 SURF SCOTERS, 81 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS (50 in one
flock), 2 BLACK SCOTERS, 1 LONG-TAILED DUCK, 8 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 5 COMMON
MERGANSERS, 2,240 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 28 RED-THROATED LOONS, 3 Common
Loons, 65 HORNED GREBES, 1 RED-NECKED GREBE, 1 EARED GREBE; on 12/12, 1
AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, 1 LESSER SCAUP, 3 unidentified Scaup, 2 WHITE-WINGED
SCOTERS, 3 SURF/BLACK SCOTERS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 6 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 5 COMMON
MERGANSERS, 531 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 8 RED-THROATED LOONS, 1 Common
Loon, 71 HORNED GREBES; on 12/13, 5 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 15 LESSER SCAUP, 8
unidentified Scaup, 3 BLACK SCOTERS, 1 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 1 COMMON MERGANSER,
3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 1 Common Loon (JM).


LAWRENCE COUNTY:

In New Beaver on 12/14, 1 BLUE-WINGED TEAL at the Three Rivers gravel pond,
along with 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 LESSER SCAUP, 1 RUDDY DUCK (MV).

On 12/15 in Plain Grove, 2 CACKLING GEESE were seen at a pond near the
Volant strips; also seen nearby were 35-40 Brown-headed Cowbirds (MV).


WASHINGTON COUNTY:

On The bird count in the Hopewell area of Buffalo Creek on 12/17, sightings
included Brown-headed Cowbirds, White-crowned Sparrows, Ring-necked Pheasant
(AT).
