On Dec 15, a 1st cycle THAYER'S GULL was on the shore on the left hand
side of the causeway on Lake Almanor. (Ryan Terrill, Matt Brady)
San Mateo Co.

On Dec 16, a sea watch from Ocean Boulevard in Moss Beach reported
(1) RED-NECKED GREBE, (1) BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATER, (3) POMARINE JAEGERS,
a late ELEGANT TERN, (3) ANCIENT MURRELETS, (25) RHINOCEROS AUKLETS.
(39) BRANT, (17) WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, and (956) SURF SCOTERS.

On Dec 14, the female TUFTED DUCK continues in the big lagoon along
Mindinao Street, off of Shearwater Parkway in Redwood Shores. The bird
spends a lot of time submerged. (Al Eisner)
Contra Costa Co.

On Dec 16, a YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was seen at Newhall Park in
Concord. From Clayton Road in Concord, take Newhall Parkway west to
the end, park at the parking lot on the left. On the right will be
some sort of maintenance facility with a butterfly enclosure. The bird
was first seen in a weeping willow by the duck pond. But later was seen
working the creek adjacent to the maintenance facility. (Steve Glover)

On Dec 16, a YELLOW WARBLER was seen on the south side of 3rd Street,
just west of "R" Street in Eureka. Later, the bird was seen at the
end of "Q" Street. (Ken Burton)
