The Texas Rare Bird Alert is presented as a service of Houston Audubon Society.
In the Upper Texas Coast area a BLACK-TAILED GULL* (Larus crassirostris) was found
today, December 18 in Galveston on East Beach. The bird was found at 4:30PM and was
last seen flying toward Big Reef Park.
In North Central Texas a immature NORTHERN SHRIKE (Lanius excubitor) is being seen
in Grayson County. The bird was observed yesterday, December 17 on Terry Road .2
miles south of Hagerman Road. On December 11 an adult LITTLE GULL* (Larus minutus)
was seen at Lake Ray Hubbard on the central of the upper three arms of the lake,
south of the 66 bridge. A male EURASIAN WIGEON* (Anas americana) was seen during the
Lake Ray Hubbard CBC yesterday, December 17. The bird was not in Lake Ray Hubbard,
but in a pond at Harry Meyers Park, just east of downtown Rockwall. The park is at
901 E. Washington St.
In the Rio Grande Valley, two far out of range TOWNSEND’S WARBLERS (Dendroica
townsendi) have been observed at Anzaldulas County Park in Hidalgo County.
