Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday December 21. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls

On December 14 a female TUFTED DUCK was on the North Spit of Coos Bay. It
could not be relocated. The BROWN THRASHER at the intersection of Loraine
Highway and Fox Hollow Road, southwest of Eugene continues to be seen.
Recently a GYRFALCON was seen south of the Corvallis Airport.

On December 14 a MOCKINGBIRD was near cape Blanco. Two BARN SWALLOWS were
seen December 19 near Flores Lake. The Coos Bay Christmas Count recorded a
record 161 species, including a REDPOLL, a TREE SWALLOW, a NASHVILLE
WARBLER, and nine RED PHALAROPES. On December 16 two BROWN PELICANS and a
HEERMANNšS GULL were at the mouth of the Siuslaw River. There are now two
SNOWY OWLS at the South Jetty of Yaquina Bay. Among the 137 species on the
Tillamook Count were a CLAY-COLORED SPARROW at a Bay City feeder and a
YELLOW-BILLED LOON at the Ghost Hole on Tillamook Bay. On December 16 a
RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER was at Warrenton.

On December 16 two REDPOLLS seen on the Sauvie Island Count. Another was at
Jackson Bottom in Hillsboro the same day. Recently a MOCKINGBIRD, an EARED
GREBE, and a PALM WARBLER were at Smith/Bybee Lakes in North Portland. On
December 17 a BARN SWALLOW was at Ankeny NWR. On December 20 twenty
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS were seen at the EE Wilson SWA. A SURF SCOTER was
near the Corvallis Airport December 19. On December 16 a RED-NAPED
SAPSUCKER was at Creswell. A BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was seen December 16 in
the Rogue Valley at the Kirtland Road Sewage Ponds near White City.

On December 15 a BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE was at the mouth of Hood River in
the Columbia Gorge. That day a MOCKINGBIRD was in the Hood River Valley. A
bright male REDPOLL was seen December 15 at a feeder in Lyle, WA. The female
Costašs Hummingbird continues to be seen at a Bend feeder. On the December
17 Sodhouse Count at Malheur NWR at least 20 TREE SPARROWS were recorded.
