Welcome to the Birding Hotline for interior Alaska as of December 20,
2006.

A BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was at the intersection of Penrose and
Goldstream Roads on December 13.

An AMERICAN ROBIN was seen feeding in a chokecherry tree on
Riverview Drive on December 12.

A BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was feeding beside the road with a group
of Ravens at about mile 2.5 Chena Hotsprings Road on December 9.

A BLACK-BILLED MAGPIE was seen along Farmer's Loop at the
Musher's Hall on December 5. Another MAGPIE was near the intersection
of Goldstream Rd and the old Steese Highway the same day.

Upcoming events include:
The Fairbanks Feeder Count will take place on December 16, 2006,
and March 3, 2007. This is a citizen science program sponsored by
the Alaska Bird Observatory and the Alaska Department of Fish and
Game.

Participants count birds at their feeders on up to three Saturdays (or
within a week of that date) over the winter and report their findings
on a datasheet. Participation is free. For more information about the
Fairbanks Feeder Count, contact ABO at 451-7159
or birds@alaskabird.org.

The Fairbanks Christmas Bird Count will occur on Saturday, December
30. For more information, contact Gail Mayo at 479-2954.

The Arctic Audubon Board Meeting will take place on Monday,
January 2 at 5:30 pm at the UAF Natural Science Facility Room 300.
Members are welcome at our monthly business meeting.

Eider Outreach and Education on the North Slope will be presented
on Monday, January 8 at 7:00 pm at the Noel Wien Library. Biologist
Neesha Wendling will talk about Spectacled and Steller's Eiders on
the North Slope.

where the bird was seen along with your name and phone number.
