Society. This report was prepared Tuesday, December 26, at 2:45 pm.

Top birds this week are AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN in MD and VA and EURASIAN
COLLARED-DOVE* and TROPICAL KINGBIRD* in MD.

Other birds of interest include ROSS’S GOOSE, BRANT, CACKLING GOOSE,
ducks, GREEN HERON, GOLDEN EAGLE, SHARP-SHINNED HAWK, falcons, SANDHILL
CRANE, RED KNOT, ICELAND and LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL, RED-HEADED
WOODPECKER and FOX SPARROW.

The AMERICAN WHITE PELICAN at Accotink Bay Wildlife Refuge, Fort Belvoir,
Fairfax Co, VA, has been seen through Dec 21.

Thirteen AMERICAN WHITE PELICANS were spotted at Blackwater NWR,
Dorchester Co, MD on December 20. This count was increased to 24 by
December 23.

The two EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were relocated near 2546 Hooper’s Island
Road, Hooper’s Island, Dorchester Co, MD on December 20.

The Myiarchus Flycatcher seen northwest of Princess Anne, Somerset Co, MD
has been identified as a TROPICAL KINGBIRD* as of December 26. The bird
was on Reading Ferry Rd approximately 0.5 mile north of Polk Rd (DeLorme
33, C5), at an open field just beyond a fenced yard filled with chickens.
It was also seen on Adler’s Rest Lane. If you go, please stay on the road
– no intrusions on private property, please.

The ROSS’S GOOSE continues at Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary, Prince George’s
Co, in the pond area below the Visitor Center with sightings from December
20, 21 and 23. Two CACKLING GEESE were in the pond on December 22 and one
CACKLING GOOSE was there on December 23.

The BRANT continues at Harrington Harbor, Anne Arundel Co, MD, near North
Beach, Calvert Co, MD with sightings from December 21 and 22.

Two CACKLING GEESE were reported from the North East Town Park, Cecil Co,
MD on December 22. Another CACKLING GOOSE was seen at Lock Raven
Reservoir, Baltimore Co, MD, on December 23.

A EURASIAN WIGEON was picked out of a large flock of American Widgeons at
the Accokeek Creek section of Piscataway Park, Prince Georges Co, MD on
December 21.

A REDHEAD was seen at Oakley Avenue in Cambridge, Dorchester Co, MD on
December 20. Five REDHEADS made an appearance at the Lock Raven
Reservoir, Baltimore Co, MD on December 21. A few REDHEADS were mixed in
with other ducks at Mason Neck NWR, Fairfax Co, VA on December 23.

A late GREEN HERON was spotted from a yard in Easton, Talbot Co, MD on
December 21.

A GOLDEN EAGLE was observed flying over the Potomac River near Snyder’s
Landing in Washington Co, MD on December 22.

An immature SHARP-SHINNED HAWK did a do-si-do with a MERLIN as observed
while waiting for a red light in downtown Charlottesville, VA on December
21. Two PEREGRINE FALCONS were at Blackwater NWR on December 20.

A SANDHILL CRANE was seen in a small patch of grass at the intersection
of I-83 and the Baltimore Beltway on December 21.

A RED KNOT was seen at the Eagles Nest Campground, Ocean City, Worcester
Co, MD on December 21.

An ICELAND and a LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL were found at North East Town
Park on December 22.

A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was spotted at Calvert Cliffs State Park, Calvert
Co, MD on December 23. Another RED-HEADED WOODPECKER was seen in the
Perryville Community Park, Cecil Co, MD on December 24.

A FOX SPARROW was noted at Julie Metz Wetlands Bank, Prince William Co, VA
on December 24.
