A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen from the area of the dam at Lake Spivey, Henry
Co./Clayton Co., on Saturday, 12/23. From I-75 & GA 138 south of Atlanta, head west
on GA 138 to Speer Rd., turn left (south), continue past the Walt Stephens Rd.
intersection and continue to Lake Jodeco Rd. Turn right (west) on Lake Jodeco Rd.
and look for Lake Spivey on the right. You can scan the lake from this area with a
scope, but this is a busy road. The observer noted that the bird was chased off by
a boat and flew out of sight.

A female BROAD-TAILED HUMMINGBIRD was banded in Mableton, Cobb Co., but there
haven’t been any reports of the bird to GABO or to the RBA within the past few
days. The bird has been visiting feeders at the home of Rich and Lois Williams.
Please contact them at 770-948-8338 to set up a time to look for the bird.
An adult male and an immature or female CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD have been visiting the
feeders at the home of Pat White in north Dekalb Co. To try for the birds, go to
2210 Fairoaks Rd.: From I-85 & Clairmont Rd., head south on Clairmont, turn left on
Audubon Dr., turn right on Ravenwood Dr., bear left on to Alderbrook Rd., bear left
on to Timberland Dr. and take a left on Fairoaks Rd. There are feeders in the front
of the house and in the back. To view the feeders in the back of the house, proceed
up the driveway to the right side of the house and go through the gate to the
backyard.
An adult male CALLIOPE HUMMINGBIRD has also bee seen visiting the feeders at the
home of Steve Calver in Savannah.
A flock of 275 SANDHILL CRANES was reported moving through the western Atlanta area
(Fayette/Coweta Cos.) on Saturday, 12/23.
