Today at Tewinkle Park in Costa Mesa, the continuing YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER
was found in pine trees next to the fence on the north side of the park near
the blue playground equipment. Some days this bird cannot be found (like
CBC count day), but it has been seen this week on Monday and Tuesday as
well.

The male HOODED WARBLER was last reported from Aurora Park in Mission Viejo
on Tuesday. Look on the oak slope....and for the warbler which feeds on the
ground a lot. It also vocalizes a great deal. Also there was a MOUNTAIN
CHICKADEE.

University of California Irvine Campus: On Monday the WORM-EATING WARBLER
discovered first on CBC count day was refound, but in a private area of the
campus. Also on count day we understand that a PALM WARBLER and SUMMER
TANAGER were also found in that area.

As many as 3 LEWIS'S WOODPECKERS continued last Saturday at the end of Black
Star Canyon Road in the Santa Ana Mts foothills.

At the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary the CLAY-COLORED SPARROW continued
around pond C. We understand that GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET were found in the
back willows during the CBC count last Sunday, and one VERMILION FLYCATCHER
was across Campus Drive.

The continuing male AMERICAN REDSTART was seen last Friday along the bike
trail along the Santa Ana River above the Orange-Olive RR Track crossing.
Downstream towards Glassell the PLUMBEOUS VIREO was seen along the bike path
and at least 1 THAYER'S GULL was in the gull flock in the river. Another
American Redstart was seen on count day at the Environmental Nature Center.

At Doheny State Beach last Wednesday at least 4 first year THAYERS GULLS
were in the gull flock.

At Harbor View Nature Park a BLACK AND WHITE WARBLER was seen both days last
weekend. Another Black and White was at Huntington Central Park, where a
LONG-EARED OWL was found on the count. Also on count day at Huntington
Central Park by the Gothard area, two WINTER WRENS were found.

The SHORT-EARED OWL continues to be seen at Upper Newport Bay. Either bird
before sunrise or just before sunset/dusk. The bird at dusk becomes active
feeding over the salt marsh between the boardwalk area below the Muth Nature
Center (west side of UNB) and the overlook at the old salt dike (off of
Back Bay Drive, east side of UNB). A SNOW GOOSE was also in the channel
below the Muth Center last Sunday.

At Bolsa Chica Preserve last weekend the REDDISH EGRETS continued and a
WHITE-WINGED SCOTER was offshore.
