This is the Michigan Statewide Bird Report for Thursday, September 15th,
2005. It is sponsored by the Audubon Society of Kalamazoo.

In WAYNE COUNTY on September 11th, a FRIGATEBIRD*, unidentified to species,
was photographed at Lake Erie Metropark. Several birders desperately tried
in vain to relocate the bird since. [Experts studying the FRIGATEBIRD photos
are leaning torwards possibility of a LESSER, which , if accepted, would be
2nd North American record north of Mexico. First was 3 July 1960, Deer Isle,
Maine.] On September 14th, a NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW* was found, in
the cattails ,along the Lake St. Clair shoreline by the Grosse Pointe Yacht
Club. It has been searched for, unsuccessfully since.

In MACOMB COUNTY on September 10th & 11th, a juvenile WESTERN SANDPIPER was
present at Metro Beach Metropark.

In MONROE COUNTY, September 10th, a WHIMBREL was reported at Point Mouilee
State Game Area.

In MUSKEGON COUNTY, September 11th, 1 EARED GREBE remained present at the
Muskegon wastewater System. A “KRIDER’S” RED TAILED HAWK was reported from
Muskegon Wastewater System that same day.

In INGHAM COUNTY on September 11th, 1 CACKLING GOOSE was located at the
“college ponds”, on Michigan State University campus.

In KENT COUNTY on September 11th, a WORM-EATING WARBLER was found at the
Howard Christensen Nature Center.
In BAY COUNTY, at the Karn Plant in Bay City, the 2 previously reported
SNOWY EGRETS remained present through at least September 13th.
