-------------
On Jan 17, the 2nd cycle SLATY-BACKED GULL was seen again at Venice
State Beach in Half Moon Bay. The ROCK SANDPIPER was seen below the
18th tee at the Half Moon Bay Golf Course. The bird is also visible
from the south end of Redondo Beach Road. There is a paved coastal trail
which has public access. At Cascade Creek, the female HOODED WARBLER and
WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS continue in the brussels-sprout field.
Note: Several cars have been vandalized at this location.

Directions by John Luther:
To find this area go south on Highway 1 about a mile
south of Rossi Rd and look for a single mail box on the right side of
the road. On the left side of the road is the entrance to the K+S Ranch.
About 100 meters south of here (after going over Cascade Creek) on the
left is the entrance to a hidden old road with a gate. One or two cars
could park here. When you get out of your car you will probably
smell the brussels sprouts. Walk past the gate and follow the old road
east through the trees and just past the willows you will see piles of
brussel sprouts on your left. Lots of warblers and sparrows where
feeding on the piles of sprouts. The Hooded Warbler was seen far to the
left by the blackberries and willows at the edge of the open area with
brussel sprouts.
San Francisco Co.
-----------------
On Jan 17, the SCOTT'S ORIOLE and NASHVILLE WARBLER were between seen
845-900am at Hippy Hill in Sharon Meadow in Golden Gate Park.
Hippy Hill is on the west side of the Meadow behind (east of) the
tennis courts. A RED CROSSBILL was seen at Middle Lake in Golden Gate
Park. (2) YELLOW WARBLERS were near the boathouse near Harding Golf
Course at Lake Merced. (Peter Metropulos)
