This is the Los Angeles Rare Bird Alert for Thursday January 25, 2007.

The male EURASIAN WIGEON continued at Almansor Park in Alhambra through
January 23.
Four COMMON GOLDENEYE were at Quail Lake along Highway 138 just east of the
5 Freeway on January 24.
Two BALD EAGLES were at Bonelli Park in San Dimas on January 21.
The ROCK SANDPIPER continues on the jetties at Marina del Rey. The latest
report was on January 24. Take Culver west and then go right on Pacific to
the end and park. Continue on foot to the jetties from here. The bird may
be on any of the three jetties, usually at least half way to the end.
A pure or nearly pure GLAUCOUS GULL was at Echo Park on January 25. Echo
Park is on Glendale Blvd. between the 101 Freeway and Sunset Blvd. This
bird showed some evidence pointing to its being a hybrid, but may be within
the range of variation for Glaucous.
A SHORT-EARED OWL was near the Ballona Freshwater Marsh on January 24. The
bird was seen west of the marsh after sunset. The Marsh is at the corned of
Lincoln and Jefferson east of Playa del Rey.
The WILLIAMSON'S SAPSUCKER continues near Vina Vieja Park in Pasadena with
the latest report on January 21. The bird was last reported in pines just
south of Las Lunas and Avocado.
The PAINTED REDSTART in the Solano Canyon area of Elysian Park was seen
through January 19.
