ALLEGHENY COUNTY:

From last week: on 2/16 in Edgeworth, 1 Turkey Vulture (reported to MV by
Becky Smith).

On 2/18 at the Point in Pittsburgh, 2 ICELAND GULLS, 1 GREAT BLACK-BACKED
GULL, 1 first-winter THAYER'S GULL, CANVASBACKS, BUFFLEHEADS, COMMON
GOLDENEYES (MF). On 2/20 there were 2 ICELAND GULLS, 3 CANVASBACKS, 3 COMMON
GOLDENEYES, 1 BUFFLEHEAD, 2 Hooded Mergansers (SK); on 2/21, 2 first-winter
ICELAND GULLS and 1 first-year GLAUCOUS GULL were among the ~2,500 gulls,
along with 4 CANVASBACKS and 2 COMMON GOLDENEYES; on 2/22, 3 first-year
ICELAND GULLS (DY); on 2/23, 1 first-winter ICELAND GULL, 4 CANVASBACKS, 5
BUFFLEHEADS, 1 Hooded Merganser (MV); on 2/25, 1 third-winter GLAUCOUS GULL,
1 first-winter ICELAND GULL, 1 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 5 CANVASBACKS, 6
BUFFLEHEADS (DY and GM).

On 2/19 at Lock & Dam #2, 46 COMMON MERGANSERS, 10 Double-crested
Cormorants, 1 adult BALD EAGLE (DY).

At the Imperial grasslands on 2/23, 1 AMERICAN PIPIT, 2 WILSON'S SNIPE, 5
Horned Larks (MV).

At Brunot's Island on 2/23, 9 CANVASBACKS, 4 BUFFLEHEADS, 6 COMMON
GOLDENEYES, 1 Hooded Merganser (MV).

In Plum and Cheswick along the Allegheny River bluffs on 2/25, sightings
included Red-shouldered Hawk, 3 flyover COMMON MERGANSERS, 2 TUNDRA SWANS,
14 CANVASBACKS, 1 RING-NECKED DUCK, 1 male RED-BREASTED MERGANSER (AH).

On 2/25 in various parts of Pittsburgh, 29 CANVASBACKS were counted, and 1
HORNED GREBE, 1 American Coot, 3 GREATER SCAUP, 1 LESSER SCAUP, 28 COMMON
GOLDENEYES, 15 BUFFLEHEADS, 2 Hooded Mergansers, 10 Double-crested
Cormorants, 2 Turkey Vultures (MV).


BEAVER COUNTY:

At State Gamelands #285 on 2/18, 1 adult NORTHERN GOSHAWK, Ruffed Grouse,
White-crowned Sparrows, Common Grackle, Brown-headed Cowbirds (GM).

On the Beaver River on 2/18, sightings included 3-4 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 1
REDHEAD, 1 CANVASBACK, 4 BUFFLEHEADS, 8 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 1 COMMON
MERGANSER, 1 RUDDY DUCK, 1 HORNED GREBE (GM). On 2/23, 11 American Coots, 13
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 2 Wood Ducks, 11 BUFFLEHEADS, 6 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 1
COMMON MERGANSER (MV).

At a home in Hopewell Township from 2/17 through 2/21, a COMMON REDPOLL was
seen at a feeder (BW).

On 2/23 in North Sewickley Township, 1 WILSON'S SNIPE, Horned Larks (MV).

On 2/23 in the town of Beaver, 1 Red-shouldered Hawk, 1 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 9
COMMON MERGANSERS (MV).

On 2/23 in Rochester, 2 drake GREATER SCAUP; on 2/24, 1 CANVASBACK, 1
REDHEAD, 3 GREATER SCAUP, 5 LESSER SCAUP, 2 COMMON MERGANSERS, 2 AMERICAN
BLACK DUCKS (MV), pair of RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 1 HORNED GREBE (reported
to MV by Becky Smith).


CAMBRIA COUNTY:

Along Route 22 near the Munster-Portage exit on 2/25, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE (MH).


FOREST COUNTY:

Near Tionesta on 2/19, 1 TUNDRA SWAN; on 2/20, area sightings included 1
male BUFFLEHEAD, 13 REDHEADS, 2 adult BALD EAGLES (FM).


INDIANA COUNTY:

Near Marion Center on 2/18, 2 dark-morph ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, ~100 Horned
Larks (MH).

Near Indiana on 2/18, 7 Horned Larks (MH).

In Clarksburg on 2/22, 1 adult male, 1 adult female, and 1 immature male
Red-winged Blackbird, 1 male Ring-necked Pheasant; on 2/23, 1 male NORTHERN
HARRIER (MC).


LAWRENCE COUNTY:

On 2/19 in the Amish farm area, 75 Horned Larks (SG).


VENANGO COUNTY:

On the Allegheny River between Franklin and Oil City on 2/20, sightings
included 89 COMMON MERGANSERS, 206 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 10 CANVASBACKS, 11
AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 1 RED-BREASTED MERGANSER, 21 BUFFLEHEADS, 2 BALD
EAGLES, 3 LESSER SCAUP, 2 GREATER SCAUP, 1 Wood Duck, 1 GADWALL, 4
RING-NECKED DUCKS (RS).


WARREN COUNTY:

In the western portion of the county on 2/17, sightings included 4 adult
Red-shouldered Hawks, 1 light-morph adult and 3 dark-morph ROUGH-LEGGED
HAWKS, 1 adult and 1 immature BALD EAGLE, 1 immature GOLDEN EAGLE, 20 Horned
Larks, 8 SNOW BUNTINGS, 1 COMMON RAVEN, 25 Hooded Mergansers, 10 COMMON
MERGANSERS, 8 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 12 BUFFLEHEADS, 4 COMMON GOLDENEYES (SS).


WASHINGTON COUNTY:

At the Hahn Road AMD pond on 2/19, 18 CANVASBACKS, 5 REDHEADS, 1 RING-NECKED
DUCK, 1 LESSER SCAUP, 3 American Coots (RG). In the evening of 2/19, 1 drake
GREATER SCAUP, 1 hen COMMON GOLDENEYE, 12+ CANVASBACKS (MV). On 2/24, 1
drake NORTHERN SHOVELER, 1 drake NORTHERN PINTAIL, 19 CANVASBACKS, 5
REDHEADS, 1 LESSER SCAUP, 1 RING-NECKED DUCK, 5 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 3
American Coots (MV). On 2/25, 7 AMERICAN WIGEON and 1 female BUFFLEHEAD
joined the 19 CANVASBACKS and 5 REDHEADS, and also present were 2 Hooded
Mergansers and 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS (GM).

On the Monongahela River at California University on 2/20, 1 hen COMMON
GOLDENEYE (JT).

In rural Coal Center on 2/21, 1 female NORTHERN HARRIER (JT).

In Peters Township on 2/24, 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler (CS).

At the Shaw Mine grasslands on 2/24, 1 NORTHERN SHRIKE, 1 dark-phase
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 2 NORTHERN HARRIERS (MV). The ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK was seen
again on 2/25 (GM).


WESTMORELAND COUNTY:

In Latrobe along Loyalhanna Creek through 2/18, 1 WINTER WREN (TV).
