A female NORTHERN CARDINAL is still being seen in Olds, AB. This bird has been appearing in the yard of Carl Linnard at 5505 - 50th St since Feb 7-8. It is there almost daily and can be easily seen by watching from the back alley. There are probably 10-15 records of the species in Alberta. For information , call Carl in Olds at 403 556-3887 in the morning or afternoon.

There has been a report by Kristi Cox of a HARRIS'S SPARROW in her backyard at Southwind Drive, Rockyford, which is east of Strathmore. The bird has been seen there for 2 weeks. For more info call Kristi at 533-3977. There have been at least 10 of these sparrows reported in Southern Alberta this winter.

Jim Davis reported an adult GOLDEN EAGLE was off Rge Rd 211 near Cluny on Feb 26.

An unknown observer saw 2 NORTHERN SHRIKES off Twp Rd 252 at Cope Trail east of Hwys 68/1 junction.

Wed Mar 7, 9:15am: Visit the Bow River at Burnsmead, FCPP. Meet Burnsmead parking lot off Bow Bottom Tr SE, turning left just before entering Park. Leader, Bruce Barnetson, 246-1329.

Fri Mar 9, 7pm: Star Night. Meet parking lot, Shouldice Arena, 1515 Home Rd NW to head to dark sky country. Bring warm clothes, hot drink. Call Leader, John McFaul, 289-9517, between 5:30-6pm to confirm trip is on or for alternate date if overcast.

Sat Mar 10, 9 am: Look for spring migrants - early gulls, etc. at Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. E end of 9 Av SE. Leader, Rob Worona, 270-0674.
