**RARE BIRD ALERT for ARCTIC TERN (Penticton)

Featured birds include:

HARRIS'S SPARROW (Lake Country)
AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER (Salmon Arm)
SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER (Salmon Arm)
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER (Salmon Arm)
SANDERLING (Salmon Arm)
SABINE'S GULL (Salmon Arm)
FRANKLIN'S GULL (Kelowna)

Other birds mentioned include:
Long-billed Dowitcher
Northern Pintail
Baird's Sandpiper
Ring-billed Gull

Sept 14th: An immature HARRIS'S SPARROW was seen on Camp Road in Lake
Country. Follow Berry Road in Winfield to get to Camp Road. (PL)

Sept 15th: LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS were seen on the south pond on Glenmore
road and 7 Northern Pintail were also present on the north pond. (PL)

Sept 17th: Salmon Arm yet again produced a nice variety of shorebirds
including 2 SANDERLING, 6 BAIRD'S SANDPIPER, 2 SHARP-TAILED SANDPIPER, 2
BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER and there were also AMERICAN GOLDEN PLOVER present.
Also,a SABINE'S GULL was seen.(DC&PB)

Sept 18th: A first year ARCTIC TERN was found at the Penticton waterfront,
near the casino by the breakwater marina. It was in the company of several
COMMON TERN (RT)

Sept 19th: A winter plumage FRANKLIN'S GULL was found hidden in with about
150 RING-BILLED GULLS at City Park in Kelowna (RTO)
