The Texas Rare Bird Alert is presented as a service of Houston Audubon Society.

On the upper Texas Coast both BLACK SCOTERS (Melanitta nigra) and SURF SCOTERS (Melanitta perspicillata) were seen off of Bolivar Flats this weekend.

In the Rio Grande Valley a RUFOUS-BACKED ROBIN* (Turdus rufopalliatus) was found at Santa Ana NWR on Thursday March 8. The bird was found on the Terrace Trail. Ask the park staff for the most current location.

North Central Texas an adult LITTLE GULL* (Larus minutus) is still being seen in Dallas at White Rock Lake. A possible THAYER’S GULL (Larus thayeri) was seen this weekend at the lake. A female RINGED KINGFISHER* (Ceryle torquata) was found today below Lake Worth from Inspiration Point in NW Fort Worth.
