This is the Voice of Audubon for Friday, March 16.
The TOWNSEND'S WARBLER that over-wintered at 6 Laurel Street in
Cambridge was last reported last Friday.
Recent reports from the Newburyport/Plum Island area including
Scotland Road
in Newbury have included 4 SNOW GEESE, 100 BRANT, 20 GADWALL, 8
AMERICAN WIGEON, 64 NORTHERN PINTAILS, roughly 300 GREEN-
WINGED TEAL (including 1 of the Eurasian race), 1 BARROW'S GOLDENEYE,
3 BALD EAGLES, 2 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 31 KILLDEER, 1 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 1 ICELAND GULL, 1 THICK-BILLED MURRE, 1 SNOWY
OWL, 2 EASTERN PHOEBES, 60 HORNED LARKS, 5 TREE SWALLOWS,
1 NORTHERN SHRIKE, 12 AMERICAN PIPITS, 1 FOX SPARROW, roughly
150 SONG SPARROWS, 3 SWAMP SPARROWS, 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR,
and 56 SNOW BUNTINGS.
Seen at Nine-acre-corner in Concord were 3 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 60
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 110 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 NORTHERN
HARRIER, 11 KILLDEER, and 1 PILEATED WOODPECKER, and at the
Great Meadows refuge in Concord there were 3 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 10
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 12 RING-NECKED DUCKS, and 5 TREE
SWALLOWS.
At Horn Pond in Woburn there were 5 GADWALL, 2 AMERICAN WIGEON,
1 NORTHERN PINTAIL, 10 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 34 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 44 HOODED MERGANSERS, 1 AMERICAN COOT, 2 KILLDEER,
1 AMERICAN WOODCOCK, and 1 FOX SPARROW, and seen in Millbury were
9 WOOD DUCKS, 1 NORTHERN PINTAIL, 1 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 1 EASTERN PHOEBE, 1 RUBY-CROWNED
KINGLET, and 1 PINE WARBLER.
Reports this week from the Cumberland Farm fields in Middleboro
included
11 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 2 WOOD DUCKS, 18 KILLDEER, 1 ROUGH-
LEGGED HAWK, 8 NORTHERN HARRIERS, 2 AMERICAN KESTRELS, 18
NORTHERN FLICKERS, 60 HORNED LARKS, and 3 AMERICAN PIPITS,
and recent miscellaneous reports have included a GREATER
WHITE-FRONTED
GOOSE in the fields at the intersection of Rt. 2 and School Street in
Acton, a
KING EIDER and 3 BLACK-HEADED GULLS in Gloucester, 10 WOOD
DUCKS in Haverhill, 7 FOX SPARROWS in Lancaster, 11 KILLDEER, 1
YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER, and 3 NORTHERN FLICKERS in Sutton,
1 FIELD SPARROW in Northboro, an ICELAND GULL in Concord, 5
RUSTY BLACKBIRDS in Sudbury, 3 CHIPPING SPARROWS in Marshfield,
6 FIELD SPARROWS in Plymouth, an OSPREY in Wareham, a EURASIAN
WIGEON in Falmouth, a BARROW'S GOLDENEYE in Barnstable, an
AMERICAN BITTERN and 1 SEASIDE SPARROW in Eastham, 12 BLACK-
