White-throated Sparrows, 1 White-crowned Sparrow, 115 Red-winged Blackbirds,
1 RUSTY BLACKBIRD, 157 Common Grackles, 2 Brown-headed Cowbirds (DW). On

In Oakland at Phipps Conservatory on 3/14, sightings included 1
Red-shouldered Hawk, Common Grackles (PW).
On 3/14 at the Imperial Grasslands, 6 drake GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 REDHEAD, 6
RING-NECKED DUCKS (MV). On 3/15 at Bald Knob Pond, 2 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 6
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 2 LESSER SCAUP, 1 REDHEAD, 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 male
BUFFLEHEAD, 3 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 2 Horned Larks (GM). On 3/16 at the main
pond at Imperial grasslands, 7 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 hen REDHEAD, pair of
LESSER SCAUP (MV). On 3/17 in the Imperial area, sightings included 5+
GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 1 hen REDHEAD, 1 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, 1 Ruffed Grouse, 10
WILSON'S SNIPE, 50+ Killdeer, 13 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 1 Eastern Towhee, 1 FOX

At Moody Road on 3/14, 4 LESSER SCAUP, 8 RING-NECKED DUCKS (MV); on 3/15,
~16 SCAUP SP. and RING-NECKED DUCKS (mixed) (GM). On 3/16, 19 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 2 AMERICAN WIGEON, 2 Horned Larks, 1 AMERICAN PIPIT (MV).
On 3/18 in Natrona Heights, 1 FOX SPARROW (PH).
BEAVER COUNTY:
In Industry on 3/14, 1 OSPREY (SG).
In Rochester on 3/15, 2 BLACK SCOTERS, 1 HORNED GREBE, 1 AMERICAN WIGEON, 5
RING-NECKED DUCKS, 7 RUDDY DUCKS, 1 Eastern Phoebe (GM); later on, 9 HORNED
GREBES were seen too, and a hen BUFFLEHEAD, 1 COMMON RAVEN (MV). On 3/18, 2
BONAPARTE'S GULLS, 2 AMERICAN WIGEON, 2 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS (MV).
On 3/15 at Independence Marsh, 17 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 Pied-billed Grebe,
~125 Red-winged Blackbirds, 4 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, 1 FOX SPARROW (GM).
In Independence Township along Route 151 on 3/16, 12 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS (MV).
At the Three Rivers gravel pond on 3/17, 19 Hooded Mergansers, 11
RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 RUDDY DUCK, 3 BUFFLEHEADS (MV).
On 3/18 at Ambridge Reservoir, 12 Hooded Mergansers, 1 RED-BREASTED
MERGANSER, 2 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 1 RUDDY DUCK (MV).
On 3/18 at Little Blue Lake, 1 drake BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 54 GREEN-WINGED TEAL,
25 AMERICAN WIGEON, 2 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 9 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 7 LESSER
SCAUP, 2 American Coots, 10 AMERICAN PIPITS, 1 BALD EAGLE, AMERICAN TREE

At the Montgomery Dam on 3/18, 1 OSPREY, 1 BALD EAGLE (MV).
BUTLER COUNTY:
On 3/11 along the trails in the Muddy Creek area, sightings included 3 drake
Hooded Mergansers, 5 Wood Ducks, Dark-eyed Junco (KSJ).
At the Moraine State Park administration building on 3/17, 1 FOX SPARROW, 1
"OREGON" DARK-EYED JUNCO (PH).
CLARION COUNTY:
In New Bethlehem on 3/13, SCAUP SP., Pied-billed Grebe, Hooded Mergansers (CW).
In Sligo on 3/13, 14 American Woodcock (CW).
CRAWFORD COUNTY:
At Miller's Pond on 3/13, 2 SANDHILL CRANES (reported to MV by Irene Frey).
In Pymatuning on 3/17, sightings included 3 LONG-TAILED DUCKS, 1 SHORT-EARED
OWL, 400+ RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, a few COMMON MERGANSERS, COMMON
GOLDENEYES, 3+ ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 35 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, small numbers of
SCAUP and other ducks, 3 BONAPARTE'S GULLS (SK).
ERIE COUNTY:
At Presque Isle on 3/12, sightings included 1 RED-NECKED GREBE at the
channel (JM), 2 WHITE-WINGED SCOTERS, 8 HORNED GREBES, 1 Pied-billed Grebe,
8 TUNDRA SWANS, 2 Wood Ducks, 10 AMERICAN BLACK DUCKS, 1 GADWALL, 15
AMERICAN WIGEON, 30 NORTHERN PINTAILS, up to 200 CANVASBACKS, ~25 REDHEADS,
~50 RING-NECKED DUCKS, a few hundred BUFFLEHEADS, 6 COMMON MERGANSERS, 1
RUDDY DUCK, 6 Turkey Vultures, up to 100 American Coots, 2 Killdeer (SK). On
3/15 at Perry Monument, 1 male Hooded Merganser X COMMON GOLDENEYE hybrid, 1
RED-NECKED GREBE (JS, JM). At the channel on 3/15, 38 SNOW GEESE (JM). The
RED-NECKED GREBE was present through at least 3/16 (JM).
On 3/12 at Bluffs State Park, 1 LAPLAND LONGSPUR (JM).
On 3/13 at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, 1 MERLIN (JM).
In Fairview through 3/18, a TOWNSEND'S SOLITAIRE is being seen again since
March 1 (JM).
FAYETTE COUNTY:
At Jacobs Creek on 3/13, sightings included 4 Hooded Mergansers, 1 American
Coot, 1 deceased TUNDRA SWAN (LH).
FOREST COUNTY:
In Tionesta on 3/14, Eastern Towhee, PURPLE FINCH (FM).
GREENE COUNTY:
At State Gamelands #223 and Enlow Fork on 3/14, sightings included 6 Wood
Ducks, 1 Hooded Merganser, 1 TREE SWALLOW, 3 Eastern Phoebes, 2 Killdeer (WS).
In an unspecified location on 3/17, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS (MHo).
INDIANA COUNTY:
In Clarksburg on 3/13, 3 American Woodcock, 2 Wood Ducks, AMERICAN TREE
SPARROWS; on 3/14, 4+ American Woodcock, Killdeer, Wood Ducks; on 3/16,
sightings included 80+ Dark-eyed Juncos, 25 White-throated Sparrows, 35+
AMERICAN TREE SPARROWS, 3 FOX SPARROWS, 6 Common Grackles, 3 Red-winged
Blackbirds, and others; on 3/17, 5 FOX SPARROWS, 1 Eastern Towhee, Common
Grackles, Red-winged Blackbirds (MC).
Near Shelocta on 3/16, 3 FOX SPARROWS and 1 PINE WARBLER (MHi).
LAWRENCE COUNTY:
At the Three Rivers gravel pond on 3/13, sightings included 64 REDHEADS,
~100 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 3 LESSER SCAUP, 1 COMMON GOLDENEYE, 11 Hooded
Mergansers, 2 BUFFLEHEADS, 3 American Coots (MV). On 3/17, ~80 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 67 REDHEADS, 12 SCAUP SP., 2 Hooded Mergansers, 4 American Coots (MV).
On 3/13 in a field along Wampum-Mt. Air Road, 1 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 4
NORTHERN PINTAILS (MV).
At Wampum-New Gallilee Road on 3/13, 1 TRUMPETER SWAN (MV).
In northeastern Lawrence County on 3/17, sightings included 19 SANDHILL
CRANES at the Golf Course Road wetlands, 17 WILSON'S SNIPE in a seep along
Old Ash Road, 2 LAPLAND LONGSPURS and 2 SNOW BUNTINGS in a flock of ~200
Horned Larks along Lake Road, a third LAPLAND LONGSPUR in a flock of ~100
Horned Larks, 2 Wood Ducks, 1 AMERICAN BLACK DUCK, 5 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 91
RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 BUFFLEHEAD, 8 Hooded Mergansers, 1 NORTHERN HARRIER, 2
Eastern Towhees (PH).
At Edinburg Lake on 3/17, 7 COMMON MERGANSERS, 3 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 2
Hooded Mergansers, ~150 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 SCAUP SP., 5 BUFFLEHEADS, 3
RUDDY DUCKS, 3 HORNED GREBES, 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 4 NORTHERN PINTAILS, 1
AMERICAN WIGEON, 3 WILSON'S SNIPE, 2 AMERICAN PIPITS, 2 BALD EAGLES (MV).
In Plain Grove on 3/17, ~200 Horned Larks on Lake Road, with 2 LAPLAND
LONGSPURS; also seen that day in the county, several flocks of RUSTY
BLACKBIRDS and several WILSON'S SNIPE (MV).
At Black Swamp on 3/17, 1 NORTHERN SHOVELER (MV).
MERCER COUNTY:
In Mercer on 3/14, a pair of Hooded Mergansers (JB).
SOMERSET COUNTY:
On 3/17 at the Youghiogheny Reservoir outflow area, sightings included 5
COMMON MERGANSERS, 3 Hooded Mergansers, 2 American Coots, 5 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 1 hen BUFFLEHEAD, 2 RUSTY BLACKBIRDS, and others (PW).
VENANGO COUNTY:
On 3/13 along the Allegheny River from Franklin to Oil City, sightings
included 15 COMMON MERGANSERS, 1 HORNED GREBE, 1 Pied-billed Grebe, 5 LESSER
SCAUP, 93 COMMON GOLDENEYES, 44 BUFFLEHEADS, 17 Hooded Mergansers, 2
RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL, 8 Wood Ducks, 11 RING-NECKED
DUCKS, 1 CANVASBACK, 4 AMERICAN WIGEON, 2 GREATER SCAUP, Killdeer, Turkey
Vulture (RS).
On 3/13 at the pond in Wyattville, 1 RED-NECKED GREBE (RS).
WARREN COUNTY:
At Kinzua Dam on 3/12, 3 TUNDRA SWANS; on 3/17 at Kinzua Point, 4 FOX
SPARROWS (JF).
WASHINGTON COUNTY:
On 3/11 at the Greencove wetlands, 4 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 1 GREATER
YELLOWLEGS, 2 GREEN-WINGED TEAL (LC).
At Canonsburg Lake on 3/12, 1 male GREEN-WINGED TEAL, pair of Hooded
Mergansers (MV).
At the Hahn Road AMD pond on 3/12, sightings included 1 female CANVASBACK, 1
Pied-billed Grebe, 4 American Coots (MV).
In Coal Center on 3/14, 1 singing Eastern Phoebe, 1 Turkey Vulture (AT).
On 3/14 in the Enlow Fork area, sightings included 10 WILSON'S SNIPE, 2
BLUE-WINGED TEAL, 7 Wood Ducks (WS).
WESTMORELAND COUNTY:
On 3/13 at Donegal Lake, 3 RUDDY DUCKS, 13 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 4 GADWALL, 1
Pied-billed Grebe (LH). On 3/15, sightings included 40 mixed SCAUP SP., 5
RING-NECKED DUCKS, 8 RED-BREASTED MERGANSERS, 10 HORNED GREBES (DB).
At Acme Dam on 3/13, 6 RING-NECKED DUCKS, 4 Hooded Mergansers (LH). At Acme
Reservoir on 3/15, 1 drake COMMON MERGANSER, 4 Hooded Mergansers (DB).
On 3/16 in Stahlstown, 1 FOX SPARROW; on 3/17, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 3 FOX
SPARROWS, 1 "OREGON" DARK-EYED JUNCO (LH).
