Sightings for March 17
The NORTHERN MOCKINGBIRD that has successfully wintered in Summerland was
briefly seen at 11116 Scott Ave this afternoon (fide LR).
Male EURASIAN WIGEON are being seen both at Robert Lake (BC,RC,m.ob) and at
Vaseux Lake (CC,RT).
Along Black Sage Road, S. of Road 22 near Osoyoos, a SNOW BUNTING was heard
and seen overhead (CC,RT).
Six EURASIAN COLLARED-DOVES were seen at the bridge over the channel on Road
9 in Oliver (CC,RT).
A DUSKY GROUSE was heard hooting at White Lake today (CC,RT). Also there
were good numbers of WESTERN MEADOWLARKS, WESTERN BLUEBIRDS and MOUNTAIN
BLUEBIRDS. Increased numbers of NORTHERN SHRIKES were also noted (CC,RT).
At Three Gates Farm on White Lake Road, three GREAT HORNED OWLS, 2 NORTHERN
PYGMY-OWLS and 1 NORTHERN SAW-WHET OWL were heard or seen today (CC,RT).
Large numbers of VIOLET-GREEN and TREE SWALLOWS are being seen throughout
the region.
On March 16, a GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE was seen with CANADA GEESE in a
horse pasture along the river channel N. of Oliver (BM).
