Highlights: SOOTY SHEARWATER, CATTLE EGRET, ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE,
SNOW GOOSE, ROSS'S GOOSE, EURASIAN WIGEON, BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
SWAINSON'S HAWK, FERRUGINOUS HAWK, BALD EAGLE, STILT SANDPIPER,
LESSER YELLOWLEG, SLATY-BACKED GULL, GLAUCOUS GULL,
BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE, RHINOCEROS AUKLET, PHAINOPEPLA,
BREWER'S SPARROW, GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE.

On Mar 22, a sea watch from Pigeon Point reported (1) SOOTY SHEARWATER,
(47) BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE, and (33) RHINOCEROS AUKLET. At Venice State
Beach, the adult SLATY-BACKED (first found on March 6) was in the gull
flock between 200pm and 300pm. Also seen at this location were
a 1st cycle GLAUCOUS GULL and (6) ALEUTIAN CACKLING GOOSE.

Merced Co.

On Mar22, at Yosemite Lake, north of Merced, a BREWER'S SPARROW was found
on the lawn at the picnic area. (2) PHAINOPEPLA were in the elms with
the Mistletoe in it. Across the lake, there was a pair of BALD EAGLES.
Back at Merced NWR, a STILT SANDPIPER was seen along the auto tour loop
in the thousands of dowitchers, near the observation deck by the parking
lot to the Meadowlark Trail. Also seen were BLUE-WINGED TEAL,
(3) SWAINSON'S HAWK and GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES. On Hwy 152, near the city
limits of Los Banos, there were (150) CATTLE EGRETS. On Mar 21, on the
SW side of O'Neill Forebay, there was a GREAT-TAILED GRACKLE in the
marsh below the transmission towers. On Santa Fe Grade, south of
Gustine, there was a male EURASIAN WIGEON. On Henry Miller Road at
Hwy 165, there were two more GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES. On the auto tour
loop at the Merced NWR, there were three LESSER YELLOWLEGS.
In amongst the thousands of white geese, there were (8) blue morph
SNOW GOOSE and (8) blue morph ROSS'S GOOSE. On White Rock Road, east of
LaGrange, a BREWER'S SPARROW was found to the entrance of the asphalt
plant at 3000 White Rock Road. A FERRUGINOUS HAWK was in a nearby field.
