Feature Birds are:
Short-eared Owl
Monday April 2nd
A Short-eared Owl was seen at Swan Lake, and was seen flying toward the
Sooke Hills.
Friday March 30th
A lone Townsend's Solitaire was up on Mt Doug near the antenna tower.
Saturday March 24th
5 Mountain Bluebirds were seen in the fields opposite the Saanich Seed
Orchard on Puckle Rd off Island View Road.
Two Snow Buntings were viewed at Race Rocks using the Race Rocks web
cam. If you'd like to try birding Race Rocks from your computer, go to

There have been many reports of migrant species trickling into the
Victoria area, and up island which includes Orange-crowned and Townsend's
Warblers, Chipping Sparrows and many Rufous Hummingbirds.
Some birds that are rare for this area and were reported during the week
of March 24th to April 1:
A Blue Jay coming to feeders on the corner of Tapping Road and West
Saanich Rd by the airport
A male Tufted Duck on Kings Pond at the Cedar Hill Golf Course off Ascot
Drive.
